We have the hospital tour and orientation tonight. I'm excited to see where this whole birth is going to go down.
I was up early baking cupcakes and putting pictures in frames. I managed to break a frame, but the store was nice enough to replace it. 30 more dozen cupcakes, a cake and 7 dozen cookies and then I'm done!
DH asked this morning when I thought the baby was coming. Like this week, next week, or the latest induction date my dr gave me of the 22nd. I laughed and asked if he was serious and he said," idk maybe you have a feeling or something!" . I wish I knew! Maternity leave is nice though and I feel like I'm getting stuff done that I otherwise have to rush to fit in like getting a tire repaired, getting a pedicure, and going to the grocery store.
Thanks for the kind words, ladies. M swallowed a lot of junk on his way out, apparently. So he spent his whole first day spitting up icky stuff, refusing to breastfeed, and getting small amounts of calories from what I expressed into a little spoon for him to eat. That was all about as fun as it sounds! So breastfeeding has been a little anxiety inducing (when is it not) and even though he is eating well now, I feel like he started at a disadvantage missing that first day and we are still catching up. I'm just really hoping his pediatrician appt. goes well today, even if he needs some extra TLC.
vivela I'm sorry you received a lecture from the nurse. Sometimes medical professionals don't have the best beside manner when it comes to dealing with patients. Like people have said you are doing a great job! And if he is eating well now that is awesome! Hopefully the pedi appt goes well!
Hugs frecklesnbrains... A fussy baby is no fun at all! Did you try the exercise ball? DH is picking mine up from my office and I can't wait to try it when she is having her evening fussy time.

titania, I don't have an exercise ball - perhaps I need one! They take up so much space though, and our tiny city apartment is already overrun with stuff. I can't walk from one room to the next without tripping over things.

I get that... Our apt has been taken over as well! I will let you know if it a magic baby whisperer item. I know you have a ton of stairs right? Send YH to the steps!
Today was my OB appointment and they got my day mixed up so I saw a different doctor. She said I was almost a 3 and said we would schedule an induction date if she wasn't here by her due date. I was told my doctor wasn't in but the nurse was so the nurse came in and said my doctor would be out of town starting Monday until after my due date. I really want her to deliver if possible so I went ahead and did a sweep to see if it will get things going otherwise I'll most likely have whoever is there or have to wait until she's back. We shall see if anything happens.
Went to the Dr today. Still just under 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. He said again that he thinks I'll deliver before my due date. We'll see. He would be very open to induction anytime after my due date because he thinks I'll respond favorably. I might ask for a sweep next week.
Other than that, I have had a productive day working from home. Washed everyone's bedding and made 2 different lactation cookie recipes for freezing...oh I guess I have answered a couple emails too.

I'm trying not to jinx myself, but I did just get him to fall asleep using a combination of the vibration function on our pack'n'play and a pacifier. Otherwise I've been wearing him and walking, which is fine during the day, but not at night!
OMG! So DS1 still wears a pull up for bed and woke up completely soaked this morning. I was just making dinner and there at the top of the trash can was his "pull up." Yeah, DH put him in a swim diaper last night instead of a pull up. I'm dying!

My mom did this to my DD once, she's like there were no diapers so I used that pullup. We had no pullups at the time. Luckily it was not overnight!
soultrane that's hilarious but poor ds for having to sleep in a wet diaper. I really wonder how men survive sometimes.
frecklesnbrains ds would only fall asleep with me bouncing (so I bought an exercise ball) and the hair dryer on. We lived in our bathroom. We did this for what I felt like was months but it worked like a charm. Even though it takes up a ton of space it helps your back when you have to bounce for an extended amount of time. You can also roll back and forth for a swaying motion while bouncing. Oh man I'm not ready for that again.
I need help with a very important decision. I have a pedicure gift card and want to use it before the baby comes. I could either use it this Sat at 38wk1d or next Sat at 39wk1d. I feel like next Sat is cutting it close but it's probably just wishful thinking that I'll have the baby early. I need this pedicure to last. What to do, what to do.

Aww poor guy! My DH has done that too (but during the day because we use diapers at night and pull ups during the day). He didn't learn his lesson and attempted it for a second time. I have since had to hide the swim diapers! I feel like the swim diaper people need to get together and be very clear about their labeling on the actual diaper, "This is a swim diaper, not a pull up. This product is not designed to contain pee. Go ask your wife where those diapers are."

I've had the same dilemma (I actually even discussed pedicure timing with my OB this morning when we were chit chatting). Do pedicures last at least a few weeks for you? If so, I would say get it at 38w1d. I think that's the timing I've decided on too!
microworm, I would go this weekend. I was planning a pedicure before this guy was born but he had other plans, so I'm still rocking my Mother's Day pedi! Do it now while you still can!!

Yep they last a few weeks for sure. Also, I'm just dying to get a pedi so I'm leaning toward this weekend too!
microworm I got mine last weekend when I was 39 weeks. Maybe you could get one at 38 weeks and if there's still no baby by 40 then you deserve another one!

Last night LO slept well (every 2.5-3 hour wake ups) but my toddler was up screaming with what I can only guess was night terrors. He sobbed while I rocked him for an hour, and even after that couldn't fall back asleep for hours. It was so sad. I think he was scared of something but I couldn't understand him. I felt a little bitter that DH slept through all of this then made a comment about how tired he was, but I know he would have gotten up to help if I had woken him. Ugh. Now DS took a crap nap, too. I hope he starts sleeping better before my mom leaves town!

He's here! He nursed in the OR and we are still doing skin to skin! Details on the private board. And OMG - this c section was an incredibly amazingly painless process (except for the catheter and the spinal going in). I'm so thankful for how non-dramatic this day has been.
Flair Underwood - Good luck!! I hope all goes well Can't wait to hear the news!
babyzebra - I had a cervical check last week and it was not uncomfortable at all. I thought maybe it was because it was a different person who was more gentle or maybe because I had no dilation so she wasn't far enough in there? Or maybe it's one of the glories of being a STM?! I hope the latter!
vivela - hang in there. Jaundice is so common. My oldest didn't have issues but she did have a bit of yellow in her eyes and my MIL made a big stink and made me feel terrible. People just don't know when to keep their mouths shut.
