I'm just getting back into reading and I'm looking for some suggestions. I like pretty much anything except Sci-Fi & Fantasy. I like books that keep you guessing or suspenseful into just binge reading haha I know that's not really a big help.
I don't think I'll be much help if you are looking for something new to read....I mostly read Fantasy. Right now I'm rereading Pride and Prejudice and I'm also reading The Way Of Shadows by Brent Weeks. Th second book is definitely fantasy, about a boy learning to be an assassin.
I like James Patterson. I just finished Mistress. It was an ok read, but didn't really pick up until half way through. DH got me some Richard Castle books for Christmas and I am hoping to start reading them soon.
If you haven't read Donna Tartt's novels I definitely recommend them for that can't-put-it-down experience. Start with The Secret History, then The Goldfinch, then The Little Friend.
I'm currently reading Anticancer by David Servan-Schreiver. A friend's husband is battling (and winning!) brain cancer and he recommended it. It's made me much more vigilant about diet and personal care products, etc.
I also have The Children Act by Ian McEwan out from the library ready to start. I recommend anything by him as well.
I'm currently reading the fifth book in the Outlander series. I really liked the first one and read it fairly quickly.
If you like murder mysteries I really like Caroline Graham. She is a British author and had maybe 7 or so books in a series. The first is called The Killings at Badger's Drift.

I'm in a book club and we're reading "Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson. I do not recommend it.
Have you read Gone Girl? Another Gillian Flynn Novel "Dark Places" might be right up your ally. Girl with The Dragon Tattoo series were also suspenseful (if you can get through the drawn out 1st half of the 1st book)
Sorry, these are not new books I'm suggesting. I haven't read any suspense/mysteries in a while.

I did read Gone Girl and I loved it! Definitely one of those I did not want to pit down books. Perhaps I will check out her other books as well.

Right now I'm reading (and re-reading in some cases) the Bridgerton family series by Julia Quinn. I love her books period, but the Bridgertons are some of my top favorites. I didn't read all of the books in the series in the past, so 3 of them will be new this time around.
I'm basically taking a break from the Game of Thrones series. I made it through A Feast for Crows, which I slogged through, and I needed to read some lighter stuff before reading A Dance with Dragons.
I am reading a bunch of self-help books that my therapist recommended, and some that I found on my own. I rarely have time though, and it is frustrating.
PS, do "Ten Little Ladybugs" and "Princess Baby" count?

My reading list often only has kids' books on it.
Right now, I am hunting for two books I want to read but can't find (checked three different library systems, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble, and just doing a Yahoo search of the title so far with no luck on either). Anyone have ideas of how to find books (one is about 5 years old, the other I don't know the age)? I found a bookstore near MH that says on their website they can help find books, so maybe that will pan out. In the meantime, I am waiting on a book from the library (needs to be sent from a different branch to mine) that I read half of a while back but need to finish (about my LO's medical needs, so not that exciting for other people).

I'm re-reading Ps I love you by Cecelia Ahern. Soo good. I hated the movie but the book is awesome. I was almost finished with For You by Kristen Ashley but I just cannot finish it. I've never read so much of a book and then just not finished it...I even finished all three 50 shades books. But this book, it just got so dumb near the end, it was about 200 pages too long and by the time I almost finished, the stuff that was annoying and redundant earlier in the book just became maddening and I just couldn't do it .

I found this author last weekend while browsing the library, James Grippando. So far I've completed 1 book Hear No Evil which was pretty good, started out slow I thought but really picked up. I'm almost done with Intent to Kill right now and it's so good!

My local board is doing book club and The Goldfinch is our first pick. We are all having a hard time getting into it. You recommended reading the Secret History first, maybe we should have tried this instead??

I'm re-reading Born to Run (non fiction), having trouble getting started with Bright and Distant Shores (historical fiction by Dominic Smith). Recently finished Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore, and I really enjoyed it.

Oh weird, my BFF from high school went to college with him. I remembered his name but had no idea he was a novelist (checked to make sure, same guy). I'll have to check out his books.
Most of what I read these days is history or historical fiction. Right now I'm reading Theodore Rex by Edmund Morris. In the past few months I went on a Tudor binge - Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel (both excellent), The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory (not as excellent, but very good), Katherine by Anna Seton (okay, not Tudors but earlier, still really good). We have literally thousands of books, which is basically like having another child in terms of space, so I'm trying to read more on the Kindle. DH is not entirely with the program, though.

I just started The Red Tent today and it's good so far; although, I'm not even 2 chapters in. Recently I read Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella (chick lit-super easy, light reading), and Wild. Both were entertaining, I really enjoyed the writing style of Wild.

The Secret History is excellent, but don't give up on The Goldfinch. I liked it from page 1 , however, so I can't relate!

I am reading Nicholas Sparks I couldn't tell you what book because they're pretty much all similar I just needed to read something that was kind of mindless. When I'm reading something I'm really into it's hard for me to stop it's like trying to stop mid chocolate bar
Never Let Me Go has some sci-fi elements, but is for the most part grounded in reality. Though it's not a criminal mystery, it has an underlying secret that you uncover the more you read.
