Labor started super slow with my water breaking yesterday at 7am. No contractions though. So I went to work for a half day. Then went home with H and DD and we all had a great nap. Went to L&D to confirm it was in fact my water breaking. Took DD to our friends house for dinner and stayed until bedtime at which point I sobbed because we've never left her with anyone over night. Then went home, showered, had some ice cream. By 10 my contractions were picking up but still not that strong. Midwife tried to talk me into staying home til morning if I wanted a med free labor. But I was too worried about infections. So went in at 10 they didn't check cervix or anything since I was ruptured and the day prior was only a 1. Gave me cytotec (orally) at 12/1am and after that my contractions got a lot more regular. Although the nurses kept telling me they were only moderate (my butt). At 430 they checked and I was 5 cm dilated. Which was awesome except around that time I was really, really feeling the need to push. Tried going to the bathroom and a contraction hit where I couldn't not push and I thought I felt baby's head. So made B call the nurse back who checked again and I was a 9. With the next contraction I had to push a little and she saw baby's head so got the team assembled.
Emma was born just before 530am this morning. 7 lbs 4.8 oz and 20in long. Was able to make it without an epi or pain meds although I almost caved after she told me I was a 5. Still having a little more PP bleeding than they'd like to see but nothing major. I have no idea how to do this breastfeeding thing so that's a work in progess. And sadly still haven't been able to sleep (I'm guessing adrenaline). Can't wait for H to go get DD this afternoon so she can meet her little sister!
