After indulging in some ice cream on an exciting Friday night, I had some weird back pains. I got up and felt a stream of water pour down my leg. I ran to bathroom to smell it and my pants absorbed it too quickly and I couldn't make out what it was. Panicked because she was maybe coming early and her dad was across the pond for a family wedding. I called my midwife, she said to get some rest and call my doula with any other concerns. My friend was here and I sent her home, so I could rest. I called an updated my doula. At 4am call my friend to come back. We called baby's dad to hope on a plane and head home. We started to time the contractions and report to the doula. Things were progressing. At 9am we called my doula and asked to come. She arrived at 10 and helped me with back pressure and kept me focused. At 1130 my midwife came and checked how dilated I was. I was at 9. She then moved me to my bed to check me more and check on the baby's heartbeat. All looked good and at 1145 started to push. Oh we gave up on the pool and stayed in my bedroom. After 45 mins of pushing she was born! Soo in love.
Her dad met her a few hours later. She was full speed ahead, exiting the womb. A very trains, planes and automobiles experience for him. All is well. Another amazing moment I remember was looking out my window in the throws of pushing and seeing snow flakes flutter past my window. It was so primal and full of love and cursing as I pushed her out of me.
