My dad & DH are working on our yard today. My dad has a nicer lawnmower so he comes over and does the bulk of the mowing while DH does all the prep and details with the weed whacker and sweeper. My contribution was to prune the roses, now I'm hiding from the heat and working on inside chores.
The sleeping convo is making me more nervous about my lack of a plan as to where LO will sleep for the first couple months.

We're in the same boat as many of you... If he's deeeep asleep I can get him down for 2-3 hours on his back. I'm hoping just to keep sticking with putting him flat to sleep so that it sticks sooner. Although if we don't get any longer stretches by our next pedi appt I'm planning to ask about a RNP or something.
We only swaddle his legs... He definitely sleeps better with his arms up over his head.

I've been off TCF for the first week of DS's life. My sister was thankfully able to take a few days off of work and come from out of state to help us. I missed her as soon as she left. My mother and other sister both passed before DH and I had our first child. It was just really nice of my sister to recognize our need and headed in our direction as soon as she heard I was in labor.
DS is mildly jaundiced so we've been worried about that. He has a follow up appointment on Thursday. We've been trying to get him outside for some indirect sunlight every day. Hopefully that helps.
He is a good sleeper which is much different from DD. It has us waiting for the streak of sleeping good luck to change. Breast feeding was a challenge the first few days but he seems to have gotten the hang of it and my nipples have toughened up. I was frustrated at first thinking it should be much easier since I nursed DD for almost 15 months.
As far as sleeping flat, DD had acid reflux so she slept the first six weeks in her RNP. When she was 6 weeks old, we rolled a blanket and placed it under her crib mattress to keep her at at incline. We also rolled blanket in the shape of a horse shoe under her crib sheet to hold her in place. Over the the course of several weeks we slowly reduced the incline in the mattress until she was flat. For us it was just a function of time.
I have nothing going on in my life as exciting as all these babies being born today!! I'm sitting here working while both boys nap. My boss has called me everyday of maternity leave so I've worked every day. I'm okay with it because I work from home so I can take an hour to assist with whatever he needs and I'm getting Paid in addition to the maternity leave but it's slightly annoying I can't get 6 weeks off without working. Today our website crashed so I have to get that back up. Good luck to all the mamas!! I don't have anything else helpful to add to the laying on back convo. Ds1 hated it and hated being swaddled so he slept in the rnp. Ds2 loves the swaddle and sleeps really well in his bassinet. I think it's just luck. Side note: I remember one of the reasons I was so nervous to post on the bump's board. When ds1 hated the swaddle I made a comment asking for suggestions and one of the stm responded " I hate when people say their kid doesn't like to be swaddled. All babies like being swaddled you just have to keep trying." made me feel like I was doing something wrong but now I know that she was just rude and all babies are different. I don't think I commented on the board after that.
shoogars I didn't know they were from your home town. That is such an awful story and my heart just breaks for that family. I hope your community is supportive and people aren't making them feel worse like the rest of Facebook/media.

I hate comments like that. Sorry that you were made to feel bad. The only universal truth when it comes to babies is that there are 0 things that all babies like all the time.
mladerri, that person was clearly an idiot because not all babies like the same things. G hated being swaddled too and as soon as we'd away with the swaddle he slept like a champ. C is the same way and loves to be able to stretch his arms and legs. I'll never understand why people insist that all babies need to be swaddled.
Is anyone using a baby tracker app? I have one but don't love it (sprout). Feels like a lot of clicks to get what I want. Mostly for feeding but as we move forward sleep would be good too. I'm sure this has been discussed but I may have missed it.

I'm using BabyConnect, right now to track feeds, pumping, and diapers. I used it for sleep after awhile last time, too. I like it.
shoogars, that is so sad. I am absolutely heartbroken and have been trying to not read too many news stories about it either. I absolutely cannot imagine going on with life. I feel so sad for that family.
mladerri, that is ridiculous!! I do not miss the bump. We've gone 9 month without any of the drama that was seen every day over there!
Stringy, I also use Sprout...but I have been so inconsistent this time (forgetting to turn it off). Now that I don't have a phone since I dropped mine in water, I've been doing just fine today not tracking anything, so I may just stop doing it, but I do love opening up my phone to quickly see exactly when she ate last. I used to use it a lot at work to track when I pumped last too so I didn't have to try to remember when work was so crazy.

We used baby connect with ds and loved it and will be using it again.

Ugh. I'm so disappointed. The contractions have slowed down. They were down to 6 minutes for hours this morning and now are closer to 12 again but are lasting longer.

Sorry lady. I hope the fact that they are lasting longer now means progress though.

DHs grandmothers memorial was this morning. It was sad and beautiful. His grandfather pulled me aside and have me some of her jewelry because he said she considered me a grandchild. The ring he gave me fits perfectly it's so nice to have something of hers even though I would rather just have her back. There have been so many signs that she is with us today it's crazy. Death sucks
I'm sorry your family is going through this broadwaymama. That was very nice of his grandfather to give you some of her jewelry. Big hugs for you and your family!

Ughhh it is so hot. It's 80something inside our house(98 outside). I have DD stripped down to her diaper but I'm worried about her overheating. It's not supposed to cool down any time soon

My contractions kept oscillitating between 5-10 minutes. It would just keep varying. We got to the hospital after about 5 hours of that and I was dilated 6 cm and 90 effaced and in active labor. You never know...

Hugs broadwaymama. I'm sorry - it must have been a tough day.
Kudos to all of you who use baby tracker apps. I don't have the energy or attention span for that! This baby is being fed, having a diaper change, or fussing pretty much all the time. It would drain everything out of me to then take the time to record it too!

Stringy I'm using an app called Baby Nursing. So far I really love it. It has nursing time and side, diapers, measurements, sleeping, and all kinds of other stuff. I have it on my phone and iPad so I can enter in whichever is on hand and sync it.

frecklesnbrains I used a tracker in the hospital to track breast feeding because the nurses took all that info. It lasted about a day after we got home
