It's a throw away day. It's almost Friday, but not.
I got ombre highlights in my hair yesterday. I have never highlighted or put any color in it. I loved it when she was done, but this morning I'm having a crisis. I hate it. She said she could tone it down and I'm going to call and see if she can tone it way down. Like so it's almost gone. I should've never messed with it to begin with.
And the kid is pooping as he eats his breakfast. Being shit on first thing in the morning goes with how I'm feeling today.
silverspoon - yikes! I'm sorry that you are having such a bad start to your day! It must be National Bad Hair week, because I took DS to our local salon for their kids' discount haircut night. I think the chick who cut his hair has never cut a child's hair before. Every time he moved his head (even just opening his mouth to yawn) she would jump back about two feet. I had to hold his head completely still. And she barely cut any of his hair off.
I have been to that salon for kids night before, and the woman who cut his hair the last time did an amazing job. I wonder where she went?? He is two years old - there is no way he can hold his head perfectly still!!

14joa31 I've been wondering about what I'm going to do with munchkin when that time comes. I'm sure somewhere around here does kid's hair. Right now poor kid has hair that sticks straight out as if he put his finger in an electric socket.
silverspoon - I am a huge fan of electric socket hair!! The little boy next door had it for a while and I was obsessed - he looked like a little Rod Stewart!
chimomma19 - I've just resigned myself to the fact that family parties will be miserable for the foreseeable future, even with a healthy kid. DD has major stranger danger and spends all family parties in nuclear meltdown mode until I hide with her in a back bedroom. She needs to get over it - like now! God sent you to this massive family kiddo - deal with it! LOL!
I'm at the airport. We are going to visit Daddy. Solo travelling is going okay so far except my first flight is delayed an hour. Fortunately I booked a two hour layover (there were no direct flights), but now I only have an hour to try to run through atl with a LO and a car seat. Hope we make it.
Also my dog ran away yesterday - broke off the leash when my friend was walking her. We found her, fortunately, but her paw pads are all torn up from running on the road and she seems to be super sore. I feel so terrible leaving her.
We're coming back on Saturday. Good for the dog, I guess, but so much travel hassle for such a short trip.
It's cool and overcast today. I'm planning on doing a variety of paint projects with the kids, bathtime and independent play. I need to do some serious cleaning while they play. Re stranger anxiety: unfortunately you babies aren't scared of anyone. Except my dad, they always cry when my dad holds them for the first year.
M got up early today. Usually I would nap at the same time she does when that happens. Today I don't have time. I need to shower, clean the living room, do dishes, and wash the diapers. Hopefully she sleeps long enough that I can get at least some of it done.
Blah. Finding a babysitter is so hard. My preferred sitters (my mom and sister) are going to the same party I'm supposed to be going to, plan B (H's sister) isn't available for as long as we need her, plan C (a friend who was totally a last resort) has a funeral. H is going to ask his mom, and my mom is going to ask her neighbour. If it was just S, my dad would do it, but he doesn't do diapers and can't handle M crying. Sigh.

I'm sorry your day started off rough silverspoon. Perhaps give the hair a few days before you make any decisions? I know I always freak with anything drastic but then after a few days I come around. Change is hard!
Good luck on your trip and making your connection tinydancer! I'm glad you found your dog. I've been there with the ripped up paw pads with one of my dogs. It was the saddest thing ever.
Jealous of your weather dizzycooks! I'd love for the sun to disappear for a few days here.

I'm not looking forward to this weekend. I need to buckle down and get the house cleaned and do some major grocery shopping. H starts his summer school class next Wednesday so our nanny will be starting. I'll WFH for the first week to make sure everyone is adjusting ok but I'm still nervous about this! I also need to make sure there are plenty of options for her to make DS an easy lunch. And what about her? Anyone have experience with this? Do they bring their own food? Should I make sure I have stuff available for her?

tinydancer I'm sorry about your dog. Mine tore up her pads pretty terribly playing around a pool. We put H's socks on her feet (she has big paws) and it really helped her to move around. It might be worth a try for a day or two just to give her a little relief.

silverspoon I'm sorry about your hair. Give it a week to see what it does. My last color a cut changed over a week or two and I'm very disappointed in it. Usually I love it but she didn't put the color to the roots so it already looks grown out and she did weird streaks so in a pony it looks very weird. DD2's diaper rash started getting a little better but now it's worse. She didn't hardly sleep last night because she hurt so much. She cried pretty much from 330-530 but was awake starting at 140. Once she calmed down and somewhat fell asleep I could start to calm myself down. DD1 woke us up by talking to the dogs downstairs. When I got up she had poured her "brave" spray all over the bathroom. DH left the sprayer off. Then she decided to go all banshee style tantrum as soon as I made her clean it up. Both my coffee cups somehow got an ear wig in them so gross. No coffee and DD2 is still hurting. DH thinks that FaceTimeing while driving is smart (I hung up on him) he thought that talking to DD would correct her behavior today. Not!!! It's 1130. I want a nap! And wine!

I tell our nanny she can eat anything of ours and even offered to buy snacks that she likes but she declined. She brings her own lunch.
Eta, it might be different if she was making food but we just have the baby.

I would just ask her. Better than feeling awkward the first few days. Just a simple, "We've never had a nanny before, and so I was wondering about lunch. Do you prefer to eat with the kids? Or are you planning on bringing your own lunch? I just want to know how much to buy."
Our nannies have never stayed over lunchtime regularly, although once or twice they did and then we provided lunch.
silverspoon, Shampoo and rinse in really warm water, it should fade the color a little bit. But I agree with others, try to hold out for a few days and play with it to see if you might end up liking it. I am drastic with hair, I let it grow past my shoulders just so I can get a rush to chop it off into a short bob/almost pixie. So I may not be the best person to give you advice.
scorpioscuba, I feel you on the cleaning. With DH out all last week, I washed 3 loads of laundry but never got around to folding since we went out of town with my IL's. So since DH has been home this week, we've cleaned the house, I've cooked dinner every night and are still fighting G's ear infections. Hopefully those will be done soon.
AFM, nothing planned this weekend other than finish cleaning (floors, dusting, etc) and hopefully get to sit outside and let T play in her bounce house and pool.

Last night DD3 was up every 15ish minutes until 2 or 3 am (lost track). Then she slept pretty much through until 6, but I was a mess this morning and had a pounding headache from lack of sleep.
It's hot here right now, but it's only supposed to last until tomorrow, so I'm trying to enjoy it while I can!
I think the baby just pooped and there's no changing table in the bathroom. I'm alone in my row. Where would you change him?
right where you are.
+1. Also, I noticed on my last flight that out of 3 lavatories, only 1 had the changing table. They aren't always so obvious either. There may actually be one somewhere after all. BUT they are so small that they are very challenging to even use if you have a normal size baby!!

scorpioscuba when I was a nanny I ate their food and snacks. They asked what I wanted and I was very generic, lunch meat, cheese, bread, Cheerios, crackers, Diet Coke and they always had down combo to work with. I also ate their leftovers bc we never had takeout at home and leftover pizza was awesome they'd tell me if their was something I shouldn't eat, but it was rare there was anything I couldn't eat.
