I'm back to the living after dealing with mastitis.
PSA: make sure your boobs are getting emptied and you're working out clogs IMMEDIATELY. this is my second round of mastitis (had it once with dd1) and this round was so much worse.
Timeline: 6am: wake up to feed. Notice right boob is hard. That's weird bc it's time to feed from left. Right shouldn't be engorged. In my sleepy state I decide to feed from right bc it must be producing more and I want to empty it. At the end of feeding I realize it's really tender. Oh well. I fall back to sleep. 7:30: wake up with chills. DH convinces me its bc our AC was set Lower (hindsight: lololol). We start packing up the car four our road trip to my family's house. 8am: I pump right side bc I realize I may have a clog. 8:30: we hit the road and I feel awful. Head ache and boob pain. Then it hits me like a ton of bricks - fever. And then I realize what's happening. I call OB and they call me in a prescription. I have the meds in hand by noon, along with a lot of Motrin and hot pads.
My fever got up to 102.9 and took about 40 hours for me to feel human again. (All while we are driving 5-6 hrs and then staying with my family). It sucked! And it hits so fast. If you have it - be sure to call you OB ASAP so you can start meds as soon as possible. I'll be on an antibiotic for 10 days. I've also started taking Lecithin regularly to help.
Boy does this child hate getting his diaper changed. Not looking forward to the first bath. Btw, when did you guys do the first bath? Going to ask at the pedi appt tomorrow.
I just washed her hair and washed her off with a warm soapy wash cloth a few times until her cord fell off. Now, I give her a bath every few days. Although her hair is so long that it gets greasy easily.
Oh duh you have to wait until the cord falls off. I swear I've done this before...
Quick pity party: I want to meet my baby! And I'm done being pregnant! I'm now at the clothing is not an option part of pregnancy. I'm so uncomfortable all the time always. There's no more room and I just really want him to come out already.
I was wondering this morning who else was left with me. I hope your little guy comes soon!!

They told us no bath until the cord fell off. Well with DD1 it was like almost 2 weeks. With DD2 it was 6 days. We gave her her first bath Friday night (she hated it would be an understatement) and she woke up today with a rash. I'm guessing it is heat (my FIL thinks this and he's a doc but didn't see it) or newborn rash but she looks terrible. It's like in elbow creases and chest so it seems like where she would have been hot. Especially with everyone holding her. We have a weight check wednesday so I'll ask unless it seems worse. we have newborn photos Tuesday so I emailed photographer to make sure she can edit it.
microworm they washed ds in the hospital and said nothing to me about no bath so we have him a bath the night we got home. I'm thinking that's why the smell was soooo awful. His fell off pretty early with no infection but I guess we should've waited for bath 😬

We were told baths were fine even if the cord hadn't fallen off - just to dry completely and thoroughly. It's so weird the different and conflicting information and advice out there. Moming is hard enough, more consistency would be nice.
KevinmacGOmamab15 I'm still on team inside baby too. It's brutal -- I'll be 41 weeks tomorrow and the discomfort coupled with anxiousness to meet baby are killing me. Induction is scheduled for Tuesday, I can't wait!
Her stump fell off after two weeks or so. But she didn't get a bath for three weeks. And now we still only do once a week. Her skin is super dry and sensitive so we limit them.
GAME OF THRONES y'all!!! Whew, I need a drink after that episode!
Yessss!! It was s great episode.... And I'm impressed how they tied everything to where it is to be able to resolve everything in just one more season.

I'm one and a half seasons behind on GOT. My husband doesn't like it (he's weird), so I have been planning to binge watch it during the week. My baby is back to cluster feeding again anyway (5 week growth spurt?) so the timing is perfect!
