I drank too much yesterday for a 3rd day in a row and I now feel like shit. All my healthy eating efforts were brought down so quickly. Oh well
I'm very happy to have a pool and we were looking forward to having friends over all summer, but man I just realized that it's gonna cost us a lot of money. I bought a 5l sangria box at Costco for me to have a little glass here and there all summer and we drank it all yesterday. And then we had he dogs and chips all on our dime. Uh.
And next week we host SO'S whole family for a yearly get together. Anyway.
Need to catch up. A cried for hours last night due to teething hell and all the damn fireworks. This is going to go on until a few days after the 4th. Apparently our legislators never had kids?! We'd made so much progress with her sleep, and now this.
How do parents in explosive happy states protect their kids sleep around the Fourth of July? There's no way she'll sleep with headphones on.

I caught a cold and feel like death. J came busting in at 545 and woke up me and the baby. DH is away at his moms and I want to cry. When DH gets home he gets both kids and I plan on sleeping until tomorrow.
txshep I usually try to avoid Fisher Price (welcome to our learning farm, we are so annoying) but A tried the laugh and learn car today and adored it. I am assured that it has a decent age-span for enjoyment, so that will be our next bigger ticket item.
Otherwise, fave toys include ball pit balls, froggy pool with dollar store pail and shovel, sippy cup, and blocks.
Sorry about the tooth, that stinks!
The laugh & learn car is a huge hit in our house. DS got it for his first Christmas he was 8 months old, he is 3 now and still plays with it. Val likes it too!

One summer several years ago, friends of ours had the party house and they hosted cook outs all the time. They made it clear that they were providing the location and X food (either appetizers or stuff for the grill usually) and that it was a potluck so everyone had to bring something. Worked out wel!

Yeah its usually how it goes but SO'S sister is notorious for always being empty handed when she comes over and then drinking more than everyone else.
Our friends were over yesterday with their kiddos. It was fun and we got some fun video of the kids 'drifting' in the push car. One set just bought 5 acres that includes some nice stables for a great price. I super jealous but happy for them. Someday when we're rich, we will buy A a horse and board it there.
Should be using this nap to be productive, but I'm just drinking coffe and interneting.
Today we're heading up to see our new house, and hopefully walk around it if no one is working today. We had all of ZERO showings yesterday, so hoping for at least one today.
Then we have to go pick up bagels from a friend who was in NJ for work the other day. Bagels in TX are freaking horrible, so we have our "bagel dealer" who flies them down here for us, and then we freeze them. He lives 45 minutes away, and picking them up means I'll have to talk to his awful wife, but I'll deal with it for real bagels.

I have cheap wine at the back of the pantry for friends like that
Today was L's first day at the older kid soccer class where parents just watch. We talked about it and he knew this was coming. Right as we got there they were sorting out the kids for the class and L runs the other direction. I eventually get to him and he freaks out about joining the new class and starts running towards the little kids class. I gave him the option of joining the big kids or going home. He wouldn't join so I carried him out of there after 5 minutes. I knew this was going to be difficult, but this went worse than I expected. We already paid for the season and I don't know if we'll be back, but if he's not happy or ready for it I'm not going to push him. Three year olds are frustrating!

London, tooth pain is awful! You deserve all the dinner. txshep, I haven't found good bagels here in Utah either. I don't get it! emejay, since it's still the beginning of the summer I would make a rule now that you'll provide food/snacks but the price to play in your pool is BYOB (at the very least). If that doesn't work (like for your SIL) I'd conveniently be out of alcohol when they come over, shouldn't take more than once or twice before they bring their own.
Went to a BBQ last night, it's the perfect scenario because they have a 1 year old daughter so they totally get the kid thing, we just plop Cal in their pack-n-play and both kids sleep while we get to hang out. We stayed super late but H saved the day by getting up with C this morning...then I slept in until 10:30!!! Much needed.
My tooth pain is somewhat under control today, but the cocktail of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and painkillers has me feeling so gross. The dentist, the pharmacist, and my pediatrician stepmother all swear these drugs are ok for breastfeeding but I feel so nervous about it.
It's so weird to see my cute baby be all possessed like. This must be a taste of what toddler hood looks like.
I was just taking about this with MH. C is giving us a run for our money. She has tantrums anytime we tell her "no". She tried to throw herself on the floor today, arches her back. She's started to make funny faces and just seems all around sassy. I'm concerned about toddlerhood!

We just went to the lamest wedding. It was super fancy affair (people dressed to the nines including the 16 people in the wedding party) at 6pm...with no food or alcohol and they used the same room for both the ceremony and reception (reception with no food), but since it was a small space they asked all the guests to go outside for 15 minutes in the 100 degree heat while the room was flipped. We left at 8pm and they still had not cut the cake, but they did come around with 1 bottle of Martinellis and a pile of plastic champagne glasses for each table.
Look, I'm cool if you don't have tons of cash for a wedding, but don't send out super formal invites for a fancy venue at dinner time for 200 people then cheap out.

Glad to are feeling a little better. This website is pretty much the medical bible for checking drugs during BFing if you want to look it up yourself. toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/newtoxnet/lactmed.htm

Just sent DH for ice cream.
Whaaaaaaa? I don't know what goes through some people's minds...
My in laws are here. I'm miserable. Husband is miserable. Yayyyyy.
I'm going to need specifics.
Basically just everything we do parenting wise is wrong. We gave her a stick of toast with a little peanut butter, they freaked out that she was going to choke. We started her on purees, she did well, progressed to lumpy, did really well, and now we're into finger foods. It is also a recommended snack for 9 month olds, but apparently they know better. She licks the peanut butter off and throws the toast on the floor, it's fine. Also I let her explore the house too much and it's shocking she hasn't had a concussion yet.
We went to my parents farm, and they complained to my parents about how dirty it was. Their dog started to drink from the dogs dish outside that collects rain water, and they flipped - told my parents how wrong it was to let the dogs drink rain water and that they're shocked the dogs have never gotten sick. My parents dogs always go to the tall grass to go to the bathroom, but their dog must not have because my MIL stepped in some dog poop. My FIL then asked my dad for a shovel to scoop up poop and said "unlike you, we actually pick up after our dogs". Except it was their dogs poop.
They then ditched out on the father's day dinner I prepared to go spend time with H's uncle that they hate. Just so they didn't have to be at "the dirty farm" anymore.
Refused to eat the food we were planning and my FIL threw a fit to have hamburgers and potato salad tonight.
MIL hasn't asked me a single question about any of us and has just gone on and on about my BIL, his wife, and their son. My SIL is 36 weeks pregnant and she had my nephew at 33 weeks. My MIL kept talking about how active this baby is compared to nephew, and that she never felt this "rolling movements" with him. I tried to explain that that's because the baby is bigger than 4 pounds this time, at 36 weeks, but she disagreed and told me that no, this baby is smarter than nephew. Ok.
That's just a little off the tip of the iceberg.SaveSave

Woah. That's intense. It really amazes me how people can be so narcissistic and selfish sometimes.

Um, ok cheapos. Definitely a lame wedding. I wonder if they'll be mortified in a few years thinking back on it.
andtheheartbreakers In laws are such a delight. I think that's why the term "in law" was created. People wanted to clarify that they were related contractually, not genetically, to these weirdos.

My MIL is always talking about how slow my nephew was to learn to walk and talk... in front of him. He is 7 now, and can understand that shit. Why do grandparents compare their grandkids like that, (even if in this case it is also utterly absurd)?
