Zero interest in eating sweet potatoes. He just sits there and stares at me and blows spit bubbles.
Do we keep trying? He doesn't even try to open his mouth for the spoon. He doesn't really react to having the food in his mouth. I know he swallowed some, but I don't really know if he meant to.
You can try again or wait. There is absolutely no point in creating more stress for yourself with eating at this age. He's FF now, right? Formula has enough iron in it, so it's not as important to get them eating iron as it is with BF kids.
And as for putting something on his try to try, I wouldn't necessarily start with bananas just because they're so sweet. I'd go with cucumber or carrot sticks - cut them into sticks and put them in cold water in the fridge. He'll gum them because they feel good - especially if he's teething - and get some of the taste, too. With the cucumbers he might even gum off a piece and swallow it. Or not.
And like Lsquared said, with DD1 I couldn't get the purees smooth enough for her. She gagged with whatever I made and we had to do jars.
I'm calling sleep training a success. He fell asleep around 8:30, didn't wake until 5:30 to eat, was able to put himself back to sleep (without crying!) until 8am. FX for tonight.
