Hi ladies! I can't believe I am going to be in 3rd tri on Thursday!!!! Where has the time gone?! sunshinedaisies DH ended up having the flu, but AMAZINGLY I didn't get it (amen!).
We took the prepared childbirth class at the hospital on Saturday. I was pretty well informed, so it was a little monotonous, but it was good for DH. I think it would be good for us to also take the infant child care class too, so I have to look into signing us up for next month.
QOTW: DH and I don't make a big deal about Valentine's Day. As much as I love flowers, I think they are a waste of money, as does DH, so he never buys them. We usually just got out for a nice meal, but not sure what we're doing this year.
22w2d today. It feels like time has slowed down all of a sudden. I'm pretty sure little ninja is 20 pounds by now and he feels liek a brick. Little stinker! Still having problems with nausea. I'm eating small meals as best I can but still can't really eat after 6 pm or lava starts coming up my esophagus. Next appointment is in another week.
QOTW: We don't celebrate V-Day. I've never been a fan of this holiday. It just makes so many people feel so bad. Sorry to be Debbie Downer on this one.
sunnyb sorry you aren't feeling well! It's no fun to be sick while pregnant.
Hi all! Finally starting to feel more like a normal person again after a terrible cold last week...just a lingering cough now but getting better each day. Geez that cold was probably the worst DH and I've ever had. I'll be 24w tomorrow! My very own v-day!
QOTW: we always exchange cards bc I like cards and some years we've gone out to dinner but it's not a must or a big deal. This year I'm actually going on a girls trip instead since the timing happened to work out with the holiday weekend so DH and I won't be doing anything other than swapping cards at some point.
I'm jumping over here...Because it seems that TD is going to hell in a handbasket and quickly.

I'm 26 weeks and in complete shock that I'm entering 3rd tri in the next 2 weeks. What!?
I ended up in L&D a couple of weeks ago for what turned out to be a UTI. But the pain I was having continued after being on 5 days of antibiotics, so my OB had me come in for a kidney ultrasound to find/rule out kidney stones. NOthing was found (yay!) and there hasn't been anymore pain up until an "attack" last night. It lasts about 5 minutes, starts in my upper right back/kidney area and sometimes radiates around to my upper stomach/right below the boobs. Who knows what it is...but the good news is that he's been just fine through all of it. If this is the worst I deal with, I'll take it and shut up about it. But I really wish I had an answer to what was causing it.
QOTW: We usually go out to dinner on or around Valentine's Day. I'm not a total romantic sap, but I always appreciate a good excuse to not have to cook. We exchange cards and usually a small gift. This year I ordered myself a Kate Spade bangle and told my DH that he already got my gift!

Big congrats to our grads moving to 3rd tri rella22 and sugar4bri!
notelsie did they say why they wanted you to stop metformin? Are you insulin resistant? My OB had me stay on it as we felt like taking me off would set me up for a GD diagnosis. I hope that you are fine without it but I think if you need to go back on it, you could.
lolasky I HATE calf cramps at night, they are the worst way to wake up! And I never wear high heels:) I work from home and I'm 6 foot tall...so it's just unnecessary for the most part. I'm sorry you had such a rough day in them.
beachbum913 and daydreamernyc glad to hear your potential complications are managed right now. That must be a big relief.
sunnyb hope you aren't coming down with something but if you are I hope they treat you for it quickly.
AFM-I finally finished my registries and my baby shower invites for March 21 are going out this week. AND my parents just texted to say they were picking up the crib today. All of this freaks me out a bit but I'll just keep saying those PAIF mantras.
QOTW: DH is on call for the weekend for surgery scrub tech, so we will probably be very low key. We find it difficult to think about what to get each other for gifts these days, as we don't really want to spend money and have everything we want for now, just waiting on baby to get here. I did order some baby books for his gift: "Daddy and Me" and "Daddy Hugs" both by Karen Katz.
IFinTN , my RE had me stay on it, but at 12w my OB said that they take their patients off of the metformin. I am insulin resistant. Hopefully if I need to go back on it, it won't be too much of a shock for my body. I don't want to go through all the pain I had when I first started it.

Uh yeah, I hear ya! Although I've had constipation issues for months now...I think that's been worse than the opposite problem the met creates....
This seems to be a very inconsistent area of OB practice. I've seen many that were taken off and many that were kept on. There's also studies out there to suggest that metformin helps with breastfeeding in insulin resistant PCOS patients. This may be something worth bringing up with your OB if for some reason you fail the GTT. As an FYI, I failed the 1 hr test at around 11 weeks but passed the 3h GTT around 14 weeks, so don't be discouraged if you fail the 1hr. I'm taking the 3hr again at my 26 week appt.

That's exactly why she wants to do my glucose test at 16w. I will bring up metformin to her again. I feel like it is a good idea.
notelsie you'll probably need to take it again closer to 3rd tri as an FYI. Insulin needs almost triple by 3rd tri, that's why even "normal" folks develop GD. Pregnancy really taxes the old pancreas.

Thank you so much for all the information! I will bring it up with my OB on Friday. I knew pregnancy would be complicated, but I never knew there were this many factors. lol
EDD 8/4/15 Team ? (we will find out at our first opportunity!) 15w4d
Our next appointment is on Tuesday for a growth scan & cervical measurement baseline. The last scan showed some Wharton's jelly cysts on the baby's umbilical cord, so hopefully those have cleared out by now. We will be exactly 16 weeks at the time of the appointment, so I plan to ask if they can tell the sex of the baby yet.
QOTW: we usually don't do much of anything, but this year I decided to get DH a little surprise. We went for a couples massage yesterday and it was amazing! He surprised me this morning by taking me to the dine-in theater to see a movie. Afterwards, we went to Build-a-Bear and had an adorable stuffed puppy made for the baby. I have a sound clip of the baby's heartbeat on my phone, so now when you squeeze the puppy's paw you can hear six seconds of ninja baby bliss

Love all the updates!! Sorry I am totally MIA during the weeks, I seem to post and run for the week. I am so busy these past few weeks I can't seem to find time to get online and update things - but welcome to everyone who is joining us (especially runcici - so good to see you, but how are you in 2nd tri already??? Crazy!!)
it's totally crazy, sunshinedaisies! I was about to click on the 1st Tri thread and then had to correct myself! Does this still feel completely surreal to anyone else around here besides me?!

Up until today I was still having to remind myself daily that I am in fact pregnant. Today we decided to go to BRU to start the registry ( what an overwhelming experience) and when I put on my jeans they hurt to button. I haven't worn jeans in about 2 weeks since I wear scrubs to work and have been sick but maternity jeans were the fist thing I bought when we went to target later. It's real now!
