ashlantic ugh the hitting and biting. So awful. Not sure how to deal with it or if it's the best thing, but when he does it I sternly say "no, no, not nice" and then say "be gentle" and redirect his hand to my face or arm and make a gentle patting motion. If it continues, I then say it again, and then walk away from him. Seriously, hell beast is the perfect description. Where is my sweet little boy?! Today he bit/hit himself when he was frustrated and I really think it's because he is having difficulty communicating. It sucks to parent sometimes.
Lo resorts to hitting/biting when he doesn't get his way. We've been trying a quick, 1 minute time out when he does it. I tell him "No biting/hitting" and plop him down for a minute. If he gets up I put him back. Afterwards I sit down with him and we talk about how hands are for playing/helping/etc not hitting. Just lots of reinforcement I guess.
