After my fun bedtime I got an all nighter with lo. I'm a sleepy mama. We have a play date this afternoon and my friend is bringing me dinner. I'm hoping to get a nap in today at some point. My husbands two sisters are coming to visit tomorrow while he's out of town. So not happy about this, but that's a completely different post in itself. I have to get the house ready and go grocery shopping while ds is at school this morning.
Thinking of gomamab! I'm thinking she got a little less sleep than I did, but hopefully she's holding her sweet baby by now.
mladerri- I can't tell you the number of times this past week that I've had to really think about what day it is...so true!
I got DS to sleep in his rock n play for a little over an hour last night. I feel so accomplished. Of course this was after a nursing session that lasted over an hour and then used the white noise app and rocking to get him settled. I'm just going with the small victory.
We are going to attempt going out to dinner tonight. Fingers crossed he sleeps during it or I can figure out nursing in public without a boppy.

I definitely know what day it is... I still count down the days until the weekend because it means DH will be around so I'm not on duty ALL DAY LONG. Plus we have exciting plans for most of the weekends this summer. This weekend DH has a work retreat in the mountains that I think I mentioned to you guys months ago. So we get an all expense-paid weekend at a nice ski resort! I booked myself a massage at the spa, and I'm going to hang out with my best friend and her daughter (my goddaughter) because they live near there. The weather is supposed to be awful (not going to hike like I had originally planned) but I'm still excited!
Bedtime with the kids was better last night than the night before, but nighttime was rough. DD woke up more than she usually does and DS had nightmares last night. I need a nap.
I know the day cuz it's a full day care day for DD1. And I just dropped her off with P in tow for the first time alone. Success! I'm so glad the humidity is gone for a few days.
Well, new baby and I have been up since 3. She's napping on me now, but she not sleeping soundly. I foresee a trip to Starbucks in my future!
DH made a couple date for us tonight. He's been taking the big girls to the pool lately and has befriended a couple there, who the girls play wiling their kids. I haven't met them yet, but we're going to their house for dinner tonight and I have to bring a side and a dessert. So I have to go to the store too...not too sure what to take.
Hopefully I can squeeze a nap and s shower in sometime today too.

I'm with frecklesnbrains I'm counting down til the weekend so DH can take some baby time!
I have a Drs appointment this morning for my iud, then am meeting my sister for lunch. She's studying for her board exams but is taking a break to meet me.
I hate having a time I have to be out of the house because it's so hard! I have to leave at 9:45 (it's 8 now) and I need to make sure she eats as close to leaving as possible, since last appointment she cried the whole time since she wanted to eat and it's a bit hard to feed a baby and also get your own exam.

I know the day because I had to promise DD that she could wear her princess dress all day tomorrow if she would please get dressed in regular clothing today. It's also the end of the week at the other family's house, which means next week nanny and other toddler are at my house, up in my space.
I got a really good stretch last night but still find myself fairly tired and irritable. What gives. I just looked at my app and see I have been nursing for about half of the hours since 3:30am. It's now almost 9:30 and yep, nursing. While watching the horrible news.
I had my 6 week check-up this morning and everything is a-ok!
Both boys have check-ups this afternoon. G is getting his 4-year shots so I'm prepared for a rough weekend ahead with a whiny pre-schooler. C isn't gaining weight as much as we'd like and has fallen off the charts (he was pretty low to begin with) so I'm a little nervous about that and hoping that he put on some weight this week!
We have LOs 2 week check up today. My 4yo has never been a good sleeper and hasn't stayed in his own bed since he jumped out of his crib at 2. This week he's done really well and has only come into our room about once a night. I'm really hoping he keeps it up and we start trending towards him sleeping in his own bed forever.

It makes me so happy when I see kids out and about in costumes! I know it can be obnoxious for the parents, but there is something so great about a kid who wants to dress up in a costume. That's why kids are the best.
I had a 2 week PP check up yesterday. I've never heard of any other OB office doing that, and to be honest, not much happened. I did almost hyperventilate though when I thought for a split second that I was going to have to get an internal exam. I was considering grabbing DD and running out of there! I was trying to think of a million excuses why I would have to abruptly leave. But then the OB reassured me that she wouldn't come near my stitches. Whew!

I had a 2 week check up. I think it's more common with midwives

aww, you're totally right! This dress just won't fit in the car seat! But if we're walking somewhere, I should totally let her keep the dress on. Thanks for the perspective.
Last night was pretty terrible. G was screaming and inconsolable for hours. I felt like I did everything to make him happy but he just would not settle. I was in tears and felt like such a failure. Of course L slept like an angel through the whole thing. It also kept DH up and I felt bad since he is back at work now.
We're supposed to go out to dinner with the neighbors tonight. It will be our first time taking them to a restaurant. I'm not in the mood. Man, I'm a grump.
I'm so sorry pbandj714. You and your H are really doing a great job. You're not a failure at all. Be kind to yourself. One baby is hard enough, most people wouldn't be doing as well as you are with 2 babies.
DD does not like Target brand formula, which is unfortunate because it's cheaper. She expressed her displeasure by barfing all over her brother's bed this morning. I was asking her if that's her way of getting back at him for poking her eye and then she had a perfectly timed gassy smile!
After two awful nights in a row, DS slept for SIX hours last night. I guess he was saving it up? I think it probably has a lot to do with the fact that it went from humid in the 90s to high 60s last night. He's happily wrapped up in a swaddle now and we are all more comfortable.
babyzebra, that's too bad Target brand is so much cheaper. What brand does she 'prefer'? We just switched the baby from the Target version of Similac to the Target version of Similac sensitive to see if it helps with her gas. I'm not sure yet. DS took Similac Alimentum, which was insanely expensive but helped with his fussiness. I hope we don't have to go down that route.
In an effort to avoid the mistakes of our past, we've been trying to get the baby down to sleep with white noise rather than any bouncing or movement. It's working for the moment which is really all that matters, who knows what tomorrow or next week will bring. I had forgotten about the horrible catch 22 with infant sleep where they fight the swaddle if they aren't drowsy enough or completely asleep but are also unable to get drowsy enough or completely asleep without it (due to flailing body parts).
csat we've had a lot more luck with both the Enfamil regular type and the Enfamil Newborn type than the Target brand of Enfamil. I'm still going through the billion samples of those that we've gotten from the pedi and OB and then I think we'll try the Target brand of Enfamil Gentle. Hopefully she'll like that better. If not, I know she at least does well with the brand name stuff.
I'm finding this a really useful read this time around. I could have written her experience with her DD word for word with DS. I don't think there are any real secrets to infant sleep. It pretty much is just going to be somewhere on the spectrum of horrific to not ideal, and there is only so much you can do about it, temperament will prevail in the end, but there are things I know did not end up working last time which I don't want to repeat. I'm so tired of reading the typical 'Try to put your baby down drowsy but not asleep' advice. If it was working that way I doubt I'd be looking into help.
Idea... Infant sleeper that warms and simulates breathing and heartbeat. We have all kinds of rocking products, but my baby really just wants to snuggle with me. I need a robot that will do my job long enough for me to do the dishes!

This thought has crossed my mind like a million times. Why isn't there a "mom" sleeper?! I feel like there is money to be made here!

Saaaaaaame!!!! I even went as far as adding a silicone boob to my imaginary prototype that they can use as a pacifier.
Went to the store. The 3yo was a beast. Shrieked and screamed the entire time we were in line bc I wouldn't give her a lollipop...I don't buy them candy on the reg. She threw shoes and said I was the meanest...45 minutes later she's calmer but still at it. I've never had a tantrum at a grocery store before.
