Read any good books lately?
I'm on a reading kick lately. I just finished the Harry Potter series for the 3rd time. I've read a few books by liane moriarty. I read a book called inkheart (this is a series and I intend to read the rest of them) and I also read The Girl on the Train. Now I'm reading The Queen of Tearling.
motownthrowdown and runningmommy519 I recently read Girl on a Train and I really liked it. I found it very similar to Gone Girl, which I loved. Currently reading Best Friends Forever, just finished Little Paris Book Shop (it was okay) and part way through Alone (I normally HATE having more than one book on the go, but got a couple books from the library because Parenting had a book club...which I got the book but never bothered to see if they were discussing....so needed to read the library books first) .

Currently reading Five Smooth Stones. Still. I've been reading it forever. It's SO long and has a really slow start. I think if it were published in current times it would have been broken into several books. But, it's really good. Focuses on race relations and the civil rights movement in the south, so sort of relevant to current events. It has definitely given me a different perspective and has been rather enlightening.

Have you read Gillian Flynns other books? If not i suggest you do. Both were equally good, if not better, than Gone Girl
TBH I'm terrible with author's and/or title of books. What are some of the book titles? I don't think I have read any though. When I finish the two currently on the go, I will have a look!

I have a real problem with becoming consumed with what I'm reading. My house becomes neglected and I'm afraid that I'm not giving the kids the attention they need. So I've given up grown up books for the time being.
But I am reading Harry Potter to DS1 and am enjoying it.
jabs, I have a friend just like this! She really needs to pace herself with books. To top it off she works from home, so can be a terrible combo when self employed ! I hadn't read much of anything and find it takes me forever to finish anything until recently. How old is you DS1? I remember reading the Spiderwick Chronicles to my DS1, and we loved that book!

He's 5, he'll be 6 in October. Do you think that would be good for his age? ETA; Even though some of it's definitely going over his head he's still really enjoying Harry Potter.

I found that Gone Girl was her best one. I did just read a book called "Find Her" that had similar dark and twisted tones that was really good!
I keep looking for another book to get lost in but haven't really found anything yet. Everyone has suggested The Light We Can Not See and I just couldn't get into it.
jabs I am reading DS harry potter too. I got him the illustrated version and he loves it. That being said, he just turned 4 so there is a lot of paraphrasing going on. Typically he will flip to a picture that intrigues him, we'll read a page and chat about the backstory. We'll probably actually read it page by page in a few years, but for now its still nice
lemon200, I read Gone Girl and thought it was better than Sharp Objects for sure. I didn't get into Dark Places. Maybe try The Lakehouse? Someone suggested it as a summer read if you liked Girl on the Train last year, and its a good mystery! I'm only 26% percent in (thanks Kobo for useless stats haha), but so far I am into it.
Also they shouldn't have named it the lake house haha. I don't immediately think mystery! I think Sandra Bullock and time travel. Completely unrelated BTW.

I really really really wanted to get him the illustrated Harry Potter, but it's just so expensive. At first he didn't want to read a book without pictures, but one day on his own he just said "I wanna try Harry Potter" and now we're at like 61%. I'll probably get him the illustrated one for Christmas.

Oh and as I started reading this book I thought it would make a movie. Sure enough it's being made into one. Emma Watson is the star. Not only that, she's producing it. Read it folks!
We read Girl on a Train for our family book club right after I had W and I had a really hard time getting through it. Not a bad book but could've used a couple Trigger Warnings. I'm reading a stupid YA book called Feed that I randomly grabbed in the library. I wanted W to see me reading books so I read it out loud to him when we hang out sometimes.

I agree, I thought Gone Girl was her best one. The other two, I felt like she was trying too hard to be dark.

packmomma if you choose to read the queen of the Tearling I want you to know there is physical and sexual abuse in it. Including sex trafficking and other slavery.

Thank you runningmommy519! That's not going to be a book I'll be reading. At all.
