Long story short, I'm stuck in L&D until tonight or tomorrow morning with what my OB suspects to be a kidney stone.
I had severe pain in my mid-back that started Saturday morning that made me really sick throughout the day. I wasn't too concerned with my back history and still feeling alot of movement. Sunday was a brief reprieve but this morning went back to severe again so we called the on call nurse who urged us to come in.
Right now I'm on lots of IVs and pain meds but baby is perfectly fine. Just hoping to get through this lil bump in the road and either pass the stone or monitoring go well enough that I can go home and back to my own bed.
*** UPDATE ***
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! I was allowed to go home in the mid-afternoon but ended up returning again since meds wouldn't take the edge off. So now it's back with IVs and all the good stuff until tomorrow.
*** UPDATE 2 ***
Didn't go as well I hoped but should finally be getting better. Still in the hospital and had to have a stent placed under general anesthesia. While I was under they found the stone as it was too large to leave the kidney, they broke it up to remove it and I'm being monitor until tomorrow. I'm hoping this will be the end of this mess. Kudos to those who deal with this regularly, I don't know how you do it.

backstreetpixie - oh no, I didn't know you had been fighting with these too. Our bodies must have impeccable timing unfortunately for us. Hope yours works it's way out soon!

paintdadanta. Thanks. Hope your stone passes soon too! Have you ever had one before? I have had 18 before ever being pregnant and passed one a week ago and am working on a second. Since i am prone to them i am not horribly surprised i got them because it is easier to get them while pregnant. It can take up to a month or more to pass them sometimes depending on the size. If they send you home without passing it again a few things that can help: lemon juice. Lots of it. Helps break the stone down. Put it in water if you can't drink it straight. Avoid Tea. It has a lot of oxalate and most stones are calcium oxalate. Do not avoid milk though you need it. But calcium supplements can cause stones. Heat where the pain is helps. When i had them while not pregnant i would take super hot baths. But we can't do that while pregnant. Apple cider vinegar mixed in water may help break it up too. And lottttts of fluid. Like over 2L a day. Avoid dark colored sodas the coloring had a lot of oxalate in it. ::hugs:: hope we pass the stones TODAY! And i hope there is only one! My docs won't do much for me as I am 32 weeks and they are afraid going in to look will cause preterm labor. =-/ so they sent me home with pain killers to "use sparingly" also they won't look with ultrasound because stones are hard if not impossible to see that way so i don't know how many or how bit they are! ::sigh::

backstreetpixie I don't know how you do it. This was my first and I hope my last. I'm still in the hospital, they finally put in a stent and found the that the stone was too large to fit through the hole to travel down. They broke it up to remove it and in hoping to go home in the morning. Have you ever had any get stuck before?

I never had a stent or uteroscopy but i had one on each side the size of an inch broken up by lithotripsy. (Sound waves) in 2006. I hate to tell you that once you have had one your chances of having another within 5 years is 50%. Hope you never do! Drink at least 2L of water daily to try and prevent it. Glad they broke it up and you will get to go home. I passed 2 today. One was 9mm!!

backstreetpixie, ouch - I don't know how you deal with these on a regular basis.
Finally went home yesterday, now I just get to lay around until I can pull out the stent on Monday. Thanks everyone for the T&Ps, I'm just happy to finally be out of hospital and hopeful no more trips til June this time.
