How many of y'all are going to do genetic testing? I'm not going to do it simply because it's not a big deal to me but I'm interested in other's choices on the matter.
The only testing we'll do will be the 12 week nt scan. And mainly because I love any extra chance to see what's going on inside the womb.
ETA I'll also need an amnio this time before the csection.

We declined all the early testing with DS and will do the same this time.

We will be (probably obvious based on my above question). We did the NT Scan and bloodwork with DD and did the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. With DD, if something had shown up or there were indicators we probably would have done the amnio. We just would want to know to help us prepare as much as we could. It's one of the reasons I'm interested in the Harmony tests, it is done much earlier than an amnio, safer, and more accurate than the old NT scan and bloodwork.

I had a friend who discovered severe abnormalities at their anatomy scan and then did the amnio after. Essentially the baby would not survive outside of the womb and was likely to be still born. For me, I would just want to know and have time to prepare for that.
I started the PiYo program right before my BFP, think it's ok to continue it? I'm going to talk about it with my mw, but I'm not being seen until 2/6. Its a low impact workout with no jumping around.
Rule of thumb is: you can continue to do anything you did before. Were you really out of shape before the program? If you don't think that your heartrate is to elevated and that you can still maintain a conversation, than it's definitely ok.

So if I used to take really hot baths does that rule still apply? I'm just so confused about this, sorry that I keep asking.
We will do what testing we can afford and is available. Because of my translocation (13/14) that makes us prone to trisomy 14 which is non viable. (The reason for our loss in August). I guess if that was the dx I would want to know sooner as opposed to later. It all scares the crap out of me.

I think the womb is a full degree higher than your core temp, which is why anything over 101.5 and you need to call a dr. You can take warm showers and baths, but just need to be aware of raising your core temp.

Yeah, I'm pretty out of shape. I think I'll wear one of those HR monitors while doing it and make sure it doesn't get too high. Thanks!

I think that rule is specific to exercise If it applied to other stuff, I would still be drinking wine with dinner.
If your hot bath is less than 100 degrees, so it isn't like sitting in a hot tub, then it's probably OK. I know people have different tolerances for heat, but to me, 100 degrees is really hot. If I sit in a 102 degree hot tub for 10 mins or so, I start sweating. That seems like it wouldn't make for a very pleasant bath.
Eta I am obviously not a doctor so take this for what it's worth. If you're really concerned, maybe just avoid them for a few more weeks until you can talk to your OB.

I declined all testing (except the Anatomy Scan) with DS. DH apparently feels like he was not included in this decision and wants to do the NT Scan this time. My doctors apparently do the blood test (Harmony?) if the NT Scan comes back showing higher chances of issues.

So, how high is safe for your heart rate to be? I'm overweight, but I was going to the gym about once a week to do cardio prior to my BFP. My routine includes jogging on the treadmill, elipitcal, stairclimber, etc. I went to the gym last night (first time since BFP) and used the heart rate monitor on the treadmill while I was jogging. My heart rate got up to 155bpm. Is that bad?? Maybe I should take it easy at the gym??
I'm already feeling guilty about the super hot bath I took on Friday, the beers I drank on Saturday. Who knew I would get a super squinter on Sunday?!?! Ugh, trying not to think too much about it.
Yes I have. My results came back inconclusive so my insurance covered it but had to have a different test done later on since this didn't work. My friend who was pg with twins did it and it worked for her they could even tell her 1 was a boy & 1 was a girl if ur insurance doesn't cover it you might want to think about doing it
Thanks, I have an inquiry into our insurance company. It is $700 out of pocket, so we are discussing it. Pretty cool you can find out the sex so early. Did you do the NT Scan and bloodwork as well? That's what we had done with DD.
Yes had the NT scan with it the harmony test is just blood work a few vials if memory serves and I had to go to the hospital for it and meet with genetic counselor my mother has a heart defect that can be passed on

We are having an elective ultrasound later this week, but will more than likely decline everything but the 19 week scan our birth center offers.

The literature I've read (idiots guide to fitness during pregnancy, I think) said that pregnant women shouldn't really go by what their heart rate is but rather by perceived exertion. If working out activity is on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being sleeping and 10 being extremely vigorous activity you should not exceed 5-6. You can sweat and get your heart rate up but you should be able to carry a conversation. If you get out of breath, it's too much.

I cycle and my heart rate routinely goes up to 180+ when I am doing hills. I wouldn't worry about 155. I don't even think I could keep mine that low.
