We are going to a play date with a few friends today, one of which is the mom who lost her baby at 27 weeks pregnant a few weeks ago. I'm really nervous, but also know that we have to get back to normal life and normal life included hanging out with them. I just feel so guilty having a healthy baby girl when she just lost hers!
We are also hopefully looking at a few cars. We sold ours on Saturday, and we are borrowing my in-laws car, but we can only borrow it for so long and then I will be carless and stuck at home! We are looking to buy an older one and use the difference to pay off the medical bills, hopefully we find a good deal!

txmommy14 Jesus. I'm surprised she wants to go on a play date actually. That is a strong woman. I would be nervous too, but you're gracious and kind, so that's all you can do.

I have a mad stomachache this morning. Also, LO is laying on her back on her diaper changing pad on the couch only half-swaddled and is FINALLY quiet after 6 hours of grunting. I am not moving her because sanity.

Everything has sucked since 3am. After an hourlong nursing session, he was wide awake. Then upset. And the upset has continued, except for a 45-minute nap on my chest after eating again. I be tired.
Now 8:30, more nursing, and I don't know what to do for this small child.
So my plans today hopefully include napping. If not for me, at least for baby? Please?
I am tying up some loose ends today with some administrative stuff for work. I finally get a chance to get this stuff done because today is DH's first official day as a SAHD! I start back full time to work next week. I'm not ready yet emotionally, but I never will be, and I just need to pull off the bandaid.
We're going later to Costco to get a membership and buy some stuff. What are the can't miss items from Costco?
babyzebra I love costco's fruit! We usually get pineapple, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and apple slices (easy for girls to grab out of the fridge while I'm with baby). I also get toilet paper, milk. I know a lot of people do diapers and wipes, but they carry huggies and their brand is basically huggies (my girls got bad rashes).

babyzebra diapers and wipes, they are both on sale right now. Kirkland brand toilet paper and paper towels, cereal is always a good deal. That's where I work so I have a loyalty. I can't remember if you FF but the Kirkland formula is very popular and a good price.

Good luck!
My Costco go-tos: TP, kleenex, cat litter, trash bags Big thing of cashews Frozen berries and veggies (more important in winter) DD is a big fan of all-fruit popsicle things If you use a lot of eggs, awesome price on a huge thing of organic eggs They have great EVOO I also get things like razors and contact lens solution Some of the semi-prepared stuff works well for easy dinners amd snacks--frozen ravioli or veggie patties, all the dips like spinach artichoke, etc. Wine
I'm starting my low sugar diet today. I've done it before and it really has worked. Hopefully I have some willpower!
Good luck!!
How low is "low sugar"? I've considered doing this in the past, but I honestly don't know if I have the willpower to make it last. Do you follow a particular plan?
We are watching our friend's dog, so I just got home from taking the two dogs and the baby for a walk. It's not that easy when the visiting dog keeps trying to hump mine. I need to get groceries too- it's so much nicer going during the week rather than Sunday.

This time I'm not following a particular plan. Ive done some pretty strict ones before where you can't even have fruit, but that is just too hard. So, I'm just not going to have refined sugar. Which is still hard because it's in everything! Salads will have just oil and vinegar, no white bread/pasta/rice. For now I'm going to just try and eat a lot of grilled chicken, vegetables, fruits, nuts. The only bread I can have is Ezekial bread, which is flourless and sugarless. I'm still going to have cream and Splenda in my coffee. I will have some cheese, but not a ton. I really have to read labels to see sugar content.
Yesterday I read that sugar is something like 10 times more addicting than cocaine, and I believe it! When I've gone sugar free in the past it really has cut down on cravings and then sugar actually tasted terrible when I did have it...

damn. This sounds hard but also so rewarding. Will you update us on your progress?

I just got home from a walk with a lower body workout. I have to go visit a friend who is in ICU today as well. I need to be there for his wife. I am also going to visit my dad at his office in a bit.
Baby just went down for a morning nap. Night time was fairly decent although she was awake from 4pm to 10pm, briefly falling asleep half a dozen times (like 5 min). It was a complete mess of an evening for her but luckily I had invited my parent over for dinner so they helped (which, despite how much I enjoy their company, was the main reason I invited them over).
babyzebra, my Costco trip usually includes organic fruit, especially berries this time of year, steak, fish (we freeze half), wine, nuts, and a couple things for quick dinners where you can freeze some of it since the packages of everything are so huge, like ravioli, meatballs. My Costco has a package of pre cooked carnitas which I always get its really good and makes a very quick meal (tacos, burritos, salad).

I am heading to Costco tomorrow and can't wait!
I'm so sorry about your friend. That is really good you can be there for his wife.
shoogars that sounds hard, but also like a really good idea. I don't think I could ever cut out stuff like fruit, but making an effort to eliminate refined sugar is a great goal and one that I should have! Good luck!
So my trip to Costco was a success! We did buy all the things! I wore DD in the ktan and she slept the whole time. I'm going to go back tomorrow with DS since there are a few more things I wanted to get and he loves shopping. Hopefully this will help me get my eating and cooking back on track.
txmommy14 and bighair12, your friends are lucky to have you guys. I hope that both of your visits went/go well and your friends are doing as well as can be expected!
And for those of you talking about cutting sugar out - yeah, I just finished a huge chocolate bar. No regrets.
We survived our first road trip as a family of four. Driving back with the boys yesterday for 9 hours was easier than I expected because they both slept longer than I anticipated they would.
They each had a doc appt today. C is over 8 pounds now and is doing well! G has to have minor surgery in the near future so I'm processing that now and trying to figure out how to approach it with him in a way that he'll understand. He's already been acting out because of C so adding this to the mix just makes me so sad for him. Mama needs a hug!
