dke2010, mh went away to Japan for a week at 32 weeks as well. As fat as how i was feeling i was feeling ok. But i did not want to be alone. The original plan was that i would go to my ILs to stay for the week, but then i got put on modified bed rest and couldn't go. My MIL ended up coming to me for that time to takr care of me and helped getting the baby stuff all ready. Her coming was invaluable considering i couldn't clean and what not. But there is no way i would have been comfortable being by myself, even if i wasn't on bed rest. And i didn't have a toddler to also look after. Truthfully if you can get someone to stay with you then i say sure, since you will checked just before. But i just wouldn't be ok by myself at that time. The joys of twin pregnancy is that you just never know what ot when something could happen!
Mh has also had many disappointments during this pregnancy. His best friend is getting married when i am 38 weeks and hia bachelor party is scheduled this week. He can't go to either since both are way out of town. So i understand yh being disappointed if you decide he shouldn't go. But that is the joys of life. Good luck with the decision!

This. Because unless you are washing your clothes in the free and clear too then it's kinda pointless as the babies will be up against you all the time.
Although my mom made giant batches of all natural detergent and brought us some. My nephew has bad skin allergies to several common chemicals so she made it for everyone.

Thanks for asking the question dream2be3. My sister gave me a bunch of babies clothes for the girls and I began sorting through them, and she was all omg buy dreft. I typically use All Free & Clear for mine and H's clothes, it would be nice not to worry about buying a separate detergent for them.
I already use a free and clear detergent because my skin does not like anything else so I'm glad to hear so many others use it for the baby stuff. Thanks ladies for your input!

We had an MFM appointment today. My parents got to come for the ultrasound which was fun. My cervix is still closed. Everything else looks good and I am GBS negative. We set an induction date - August 9! (I would check in the night before for cervix ripening overnight.) We will have our babies in 20 days or less!!!!
So TTMA reading to multiples. I've been reading to them individually when one wakes early for a nap but together is just a shit show- pushing and crawling and clawing at each other and the book. Yikes!

When I worked in the toddler classroom we would give them toys or a book to hold and called it a win if we go a few pages read.
Well, at long last real life, actual teething is happening at our house. J's top two and bottom two front teeth are all coming in at once. He has been an ornery mess for the last three days and I'm praying to the baby gods they finally cut. They are so swollen and angry red and look like they're about to explode, they have to cut soon, right?!?!
Poor guy!! I hope they make an appearance soon! Wine for you.

We are heading off on holiday tomorrow morning, spending a week with family down in Vancouver to celebrate the piranhas' birthday. Birthday Party #1 is on Sunday, eek! We'll be going to the aquarium and having dinner with friends on their birthday on Tuesday, then having Birthday Party #2 on Wednesday. We may even have Birthday Party #3 when we get back home, because what the heck? Why not.
I've done airplane travel with these two, but not since they were really little -- our flight this time is under 2 hrs, though. Any quick words of wisdom, ladies? They will be lap-sitting, we are gate-checking cheapie umbrella strollers, and my brother is meeting us at the airport on the other end with our spare carseats to chuck in our rental SUV. I wasn't expecting these two to be mobile on this trip, and I'm pretty sure that makes it a game-changer.

The first do seem to be the worst, and it'll feel nice to have 4 out of the way with once you're on the other side of hell. Fingers crossed it's a quick process!

@feegan I hope J's teeth come through soon! I feel like once they're through it's not so bad. elvenqueen fun and safe travels! Happy birthday to the piranhas!
So I'm big on schedules, and these 2 are not cooperating this past week. I GET that they are different. But holy crap, this staggered thing is killing me. I'm having flashbacks to newborn days. Ugh.
ETA- I may have just drank an entire bottle of wine . For the first time in 3 years. I had to play peekaboo during my shower today, so I feel like I earned it, but yikes.

So we spent the day installing car seats (by which I mean panicking because I couldn't figure out how to do it). We live in a city and don't keep a car here so we will mostly be using seat belt installation in taxis.
We eventually figured it out and I feel confident that I can safely get them home from the hospital (in our parents' car, when we can take as much time as needed to get them in safely). But I have zero confidence in my ability to do get two babies safely into a taxi, especially by myself.
Does this mean I'm going to be stranded for the next year and unable to go anywhere I can't walk to? Not that I often venture further than that, but I'd like to know that I can if I want to. I'll be a SAHM this year so I'm starting to freak out about how limited and isolated I'll be.
bocaburger, we had bases installed in our car and aside from doctors visits, I think my first solo car ride with them was around 2m, and then not again until 3m? If we needed groceries, I left DH with the kids and went alone or MIL watched them so we could get out. It's just a lot of logistics. Even now I prefer to go places I can walk to with them- I just hate packing everyone into the car and I always end up sweaty and disheveled.
That said, I don't feel isolated at all. I have a lot of friends who brought us dinner the first 3 months and my MIL is around a lot. All I can say is my perspective has changed and our first walk around the block (in Chicago winter) felt amazing, like running a mile. And watching them absorb the world around them is so awesome that we don't really need to go far- everything is new to them, and I'm enjoying rediscovering the world through their eyes.
Not sure where you are, but would a zip car (or similar car share) be practical for you? That way you wouldn't have to worry about an impatient cabbie. Or start looking into car services- they aren't always terribly expensive and you can work with them ahead of time to make sure you get a driver who can help?
