Thanks all! I am loving on her as much as I can, she is seriously so sweet. It's so crazy that she's here, I spent my whole pregnancy in denial that she was real and it's just so amazing!
I still haven't had a chance to update anything, things are crazy over here because an early term baby means she's very tired all the time and not eating enough which had led to dropping weight and panicked doctors. She had tongue tie, already got diagnosed by a LC & clipped by an ent same day and now having major improvements with breastfeeding. In the meantime I'm pumping & giving her my pumped milk via sns. Sorry if half of those abbreviations don't make sense, too tired to type out
Some pros: -my acid reflux is gone!! I'm only 5 days pp. I can eat lying down now -my weight is dropping a lot already ..like 16 lbs so far but I had extreme fluid retention/edema (50 lb gain by 37 weeks) -breastfeeding means woahhhhhh hunger and I'm eating nonstop and can't keep up with calorie demands, hopefully this will help with weight loss eventually -I can breathe again! -I can see my feet again -c sect recovery was hell day 1 but omg it's 500x better by day 5 -I already forgot about labor pains & C sect pain -my baby girl is absolutely adorable and I love her to death
I'm glad that her tongue tie was caught quickly and fixed. That helped so much with making bf-ing easier with DD. Hope you get some good rest and recovery and that she gains well!
Copying my reply from another thread to here: Things have been so crazy the last few days due to the major concern/focus on her losing too much weight. We have spent a cumulative of 3.5 hrs with lactation consultants and go back again tomorrow. Her weight was down over 12% and counting. So I had to stop attempting breastfeeding (all she would do is sleep no matter what we did or attempt to suck & then cry) and now I'm exclusively pumping and we are feeding her my pumped milk via syringe to avoid nipple confusion. Then I try to do just a little bit of breastfeeding a few min each day to keep up the exposure and attempts. We have a combo of issues ...one was her tongue tie which we already got clipped by an ent, another is all she did was sleep which is due to the fact that she was born early & also her dropping weight was making her veryyyyy tired so a vicious cycle & another is her mouth is too small for my nipple. The lactation consultants have basically said #1 goal is to keep force feeding her syringe to get her weight stabilized & back up. Doing so will also help her grow and her mouth get bigger. Also we have to do tongue exercises daily to retrain her to latch the right way since the tongue tie taught her incorrectly. And just keep attempting bfeeding during calm times when she's not very hungry even if it's not for a long time or successful. The hope is as she gets closer to her due date she will continue to be more alert. We have already seen a difference in the past 24 hours. Today she would have been 38w2d

katelm, sorry to hear that her weight has been so difficult to manage. Hopefully the syringe feeding will help get her back up to where they want her. She looks like a little burrito with that swaddle in the picture, I love it!

She keeps trying to escape it because she loves sucking on her hand

She is just the cutest and I love her chevron swaddle blanket! I dealt with big weight loss, extreme sleepiness from jaundice & BF issues with my first, including trying to do feelings by SNS (although no tongue tie in our case). I found it to be really difficult that everything became about feedings & her gaining weight. I hope you're holding up okay & will keep my fingers crossed for you that she keeps gaining and improving!
:::baby gaga eyes!!!:::: She's ADORABLE, katelm! I'm getting all weepy over here. I hope that her weight stabilizes nicely for you. You are doing a great job

I love the picture even though the chevron on chevron makes me dizzy. :-) She is so cute! I'm sorry you're struggling so much with feeding right now, but it sounds like you have good support with the LCs.
She is beautiful kate. You are doing a great job. Keep it up, her weight will stabilise and things will get easier before you know it! I'm so glad that your recovery is going well!
Thanks all! I didn't go intentionally picking out all this chevron, it just happened to be what the gender neutral design for the sheets, swaddlers, etc. were at target. It makes me dizzy to look at too!
