ourcrazynavylife I think I wouldn't worry as much if I didn't feel like he was so frustrated about it. He's been biting, hitting and tantruming because he can't tell me what he means and it's sad but it does make me feel better- I don't feel like mine is the only one with hardly any words! I have taught him more sign language and that's helping some. But the early childhood educator in me is freeeeeaking out.
sgio7485 ph man, I loved Sesame Place when I was a kid! Great pics!!
My LO doesn't talk a whole lot either (he was 18 months on 7/8). He has only 6-7 words that he says consistently (and two of those are Mama and Dada). He also seems to lose words, which I don't love (ex.: his first word was "hi" back in March and I don't think he has said it again since April). He has also lost "cat," "water," and "bird."
His pedi wasn't too concerned at his appointment but wants to see progress by his next appointment (like stringing two words together). We shall see. I know kids all go at their own pace so I try not to worry, but I obviously think about it.

Ugh yes lost words over here as well! Mama and dada are fairly consistent. Monk monk for his monkey, "mmhmm" for yes which I don't even know if that would count, maybe 2 others if I'm being generous. He can, however, tell you that the count says "ahhh ahhh ahhhhh".
ourcrazynavylife me too. It's hard not to worry! He also has a severe lip tie and it always makes me wonder if it's effecting speech even though ENT assured me that it probably wouldn't. hoping that one day he will just wake up with lots of words! He amazes me with how observant he is, and his receptive vocabulary is outstanding. He just can't seem to figure out his words.
sgio7485 just chiming in that my little guy who turned 18 mo on the 13th doesn't say many words and is also getting frustrated and having tantrums. I've read boys tend to work on gross motor skills first and pick up words later on. Very true for us- he can run and jump and climb very well and has good receptive language
