Hey friends, thought I'd pop in and say hello and thanks for all the congrats! I am starting to feel much better today. Here's the story:
We came to the hospital on Sunday night for induction. Got cytotec and in the morning it looked like we were off to a good start. I had a doctor who wanted every intervention ever which was a tough start. I had two IVs going because I needed an insulin/glucose drip and that was not compatible with antibiotics (GBS) so I was kind of tethered on both sides. Then the external monitors couldn't read my contractions, so they placed an internal monitor before starting pitocin to monitor contractions more accurately. Once they did start the pit, baby kept having big heart rate decels so they stopped the pit - there was a big one and like ten people ran into the room to give me oxygen and change positions. I labored on my own for a long time, still having pretty big contractions, but I never progressed after many hours. They wanted to start the pit again because the contractions weren't "sufficient." Got an epidural... Which FELL OUT and had to be placed a second time. They placed an internal monitor on baby's head to monitor his heart rate more accurately. Finally made progress over night, and at about 2am the nurse said I was complete. Waited to push, and then started pushing at about 3:15 or so. Made good progress, but more heart rate decels brought the doc in. She said if o could push him low enough she would do a vacuum assist, otherwise it would be a section. She gave me two contractions to bring him down, and then 3 to try the vacuum. And it worked! He came out on the third contraction! The whisked him away - chord was around his neck three times which caused the decels. He had fluid that needed to be suctioned out. I had some complex tearing and required a lot of stitches and had to keep the catheter in for an extra 24 hrs. Anyways, that's pretty much the whole thing. So grateful he's here and ok, but it was intense!
We are having his bris next week, and I'll announce the name then
