@joi992 +1 to hating the Mrs hisfirstname hislastname. At my wedding I specifically told the officiant to announce us as myname and hisname hislastname. He announced us as Mr and Mrs hisfirstname hislastname. I'm still mildly annoyed. Though I doubt anyone else noticed.
I told the officiant AND our DJ the same thing - myname and hisname hislastname. I think I repeated this request a lot because the DJ really enunciated our names when he said them.
Oh and I also told him not to say "who gives this woman to be wed?" And he did it anyway. Oh well.

UGH. I think I opened the conversation with our officiant by saying "no one is giving me away and no one is agreeing to obey anyone else." I might have scared the officiant a bit!
So late to this party, but I did not take my husband's last name. I just didn't want to. However, I have no problem with people writing to me as Mrs. Hisfirst Hislast because it is technically correct. It just means I'm his wife, which I am. I can not stand when people is Myfirst Hislast for me because that just isn't my name. Don't assume we have the same name! Ask us! I would just really like it if every time someone needed the name of a married couple they would confirm if the names are the same or different.
