I also just get really frustrated when people's argument against Hillary, a fully qualified candidate, is that she's unlikeable, or a nag, or some other quality that would never be attributed to a man.
Particularly when the opposition is an unqualified, narcissistic, misogynistic bigot with no substance.

For me, I'm not into Hillz because I don't agree w her stances on most issues - plain and simple as that. This has nothing to do with her personality or any supposed scandals she may or may not be involved in.

This is me. I've read both party platforms and agree with a few things in both, but mostly disagree with both of them.
I don't particularly care for either candidate personally. In particular the argument for HRC being a woman should get my vote ruffles my feathers. Should not assume I will vote because we share lady parts. I'll vote on what party and leadership I think will make this country a better one for E.

I can't vote for Hilary. There are just too many things I don't like. Many of you may flame me for this but I just can't get on board with abortions at 35 weeks. It breaks my heart just thinking about it. My first born was born at 36 weeks so that likely plays into the way I feel.
Trump is too idiotic to be president. He will be the biggest embarrassment for our country in all of history. Seriously! The man does not need to be in control of any nuclear warheads.
So, I will likely not be voting this year. Or I may vote for a third party.
@babylentilbean, can I ask where that 35 weeks number comes from? I know she's pro-choice, and that she believes late-term should be an option for the health of the mother, but I don't see anything where she says that cutoff specifically.
Also, sunfrogger88, I agree that the notion we should vote for her just because we're women is flawed. In any other election it would be ludicrous. But when you look at the things Trump has said about women, and how his policies would affect women, it's no longer so crazy.
Also, just to clarify, I realize there's likely no chance I'll change anyone's mind. I'm not dumb enough to believe bickering on the internet gets you anywhere.
But with the incredible amount of false information out there this election, I just want to make sure people are considering the facts, not something they saw shared on FB.

Can you point me to a website where I can look up true information for both candidates? I still have some deciding to do before the election.

I'd start with ontheissues.org. It's non-partisan and non-profit, pulling information from what the candidates have actually said. Politifact is also non-partisan and fact-checks the candidates' claims.

When I was looking at the candidates for the primaries, I liked the site isidewith.com It also includes a little quiz that can help you figure out which candidate it best for you based on your stances on issues.

younglove316 I also went into each party's platform. So I can make an informed choice on the legislature seats up for nomination as well. In general that's what the party promises if elected.

allycat, I just did a search of the Internet (only spending a few minutes bc my coffee isn't made yet) and all I came up with was late term pregnancies, which I still have an issue with. I'm not against women's rights, I'm just opposed to abortions once the fetus is viable outside the womb. It's just hard for me to get behind it.
This is all I plan to say about this bc I'm not getting into a pro-life debate.
Also, there are other reasons Hillary wouldn't get my vote, this was just one of the things that pops into my head every time I think about her.

You have to remember, though, it's not just the President that makes decisions on things. There's that whole Congress thing. So while HRC might be in favor of allowing abortions later than most, our current Congress would never allow that, and neither would a lot of the states.
Party platforms are helpful, but both candidates deviate from those. Trump is not as conservative as the GOP would like him to be. But then you have Ted Cruz who is super conservative both fiscally and socially and that didn't resonate well with the people. (Plus, his face is just so creepy) And while a lot of Bernie supporters are registered Democrats, he is way, way left of what that party actually stands for.
I liked Bernie, I really did. But I doubt that 3/4 of what he wanted to do would ever happen in a time that would matter to me or my family.
Also, colinsfebmommy, you have to remember -- once you create a thread, you can't dictate how it goes There is nothing wrong with a little lively political debate. People can have different philosophies and still be friends.

@sunfrogged88, pointing out facts is not the same as debating. I don't see how being on a committee investigating NIXON's crimes has anything to do with anything. I'm not the one who randomly threw it out there.

The thread has irked me. Don't post a political thread and not expect a political thread.
Several investigations into Hillary's involvement in Benghazi have come up with nada. It's a sucky intelligence failure, but so was the entire Iraq war.
Email: DoJ declined to prosecute b/c she didn't do anything criminal. Neglectful and careless. Sure, but what people aren't talking about is that the entire State Department culture was criticized (including Condi).
The guns thing. Huh? You can own and shoot guns and still want stricter gun control.
Abortion. 35 weeks for legal abortion. Yes. It needs to be kept a viable option for the life of the mother. I've never heard of any actual pro-choicer arguing that 35 week elective abortions should be a thing.
Comments like "I don't want to hear her voice for years" are sexist pure and simple.
#imwithher
I haven't heard a single person make a case for Trump. Only a case against Hillary and to me that's telling.

As for the 35 week abortion. When have they ever chosen not to go ahead and deliver the baby if the mother's life is at risk? I read about it and hear about it all the time. So why do we need to make it legal to abort those babies. The probability that they will survive outside the womb is so high at that point. There isn't a reason not to save both.

When didn't they? Before abortion was legal.
I'm not saying abortion should be outlawed. I'm just saying that there shouldn't be late term abortions. The baby can live outside the womb with minimal interventions at 35 weeks so why should we abort them. Just go ahead and deliver and try to save them both.
