How long do you wait between feedings with your breastfed baby?
R skipped her nap. I usually nurse to sleep, but she didn't fall asleep and I can't get her down. But she's crying and I can't get her to stop. I don't want to just feed her a tiny bit every five minutes and it never be enough to put her to sleep, but at the same time if she's hungry I don't want her to just be crying for no reason. You know? Ugh. I don't know what to do. I guess I'll feed her regardless, but what would you guys do?

We are on a strict 2 hours due to low weight. Sometimes he doesn't last that long so we NOD in between. if it's 2 hours and he's not giving cues I offer and he almost always will nurse. If he doesn't then I offer every so often or until he gives cues
@led, DS nurses or has a bottle every 2.5-3 hours in the daytime.
And do you stick to that absolutely? No wiggle room?
Tons of wiggle room! I don't want to feed him every half hour, but if he's hungry sooner, I'll feed him sooner.
DC will try to get him to the 2.5 hour mark since they know he has a limited amount of bottles and they can't reheat. But there's never any wasted milk when you're nursing.
I fed her again all of 15 or 20 minutes after the first feed and now she's knocked out. It's so hard to know if feeding her again will just postpone sleep or if it will get her to sleep. That's the part I'm having trouble with.
Typically she sticks to a pretty good eat, sleep for an hour, play for an hour, repeat schedule until 4p. But lately she's been trying to skip a nap at some point during the day and it never turns out well for her.
H and i always get our flu shots. Our doctor is strongly recommending we get DS his shot once he's six months old. He said he'd recommend it anyway but he feels with us traveling for SILs wedding in November and how many people he will be in contact with that it would be a good idea.

@led, I feed before and after all naps but we have weight gain issues so I'm trying to feed more often. This works out to every 1.5-2.5 hours depending on how long he naps for. Sometimes if I'm not sure if he is hungry or tired I try to feed him and if he falls asleep right away while nursing I pop him into his crib right away.

As long as the flu shots are still available at the pediatrician's office the munchkins are getting them at their six month appointment. I will get mine from a clinic and my husband will get his at work.

How is this possible?!? I'm pretty sure I get the flu 8 times a year.
Flu shots all around. Mine will be this week at work. Kids will get one mid-November at 6mo appt (ds1 will tag along). Hubby will get one at work. As I see it, it doesn't hurt to get it!
@led, we offer food or boob on demand/every 3hr when awake. He has a nap schedule that he's created himself. More or less, he eats at 8, 11, 2, 4, 6 (give/take 30min for each). He also eats at all hours of the night, but most often at 1130pm, 230am, 430 and/or 630am. Again, give/take 30min
+1 can't remember the last time I had a flu shot. Also think I may have just had the flu? Oops. I suppose we will get it at our 6mo appt. if they suggest it?
@led we just nurse on demand. sometimes baby I just comfort nurses. Sometimes he refuses. Sometimes he's full and I top him off and he's out in less than 2min. Bottom line: if he's fussy I offer the boob. If he refuses I try diaper and a change of scenery. If he's still fussy we try boob again. Most of the time he will take it then. No rules. EBF babies are rumored to self regulate.

That's pretty much what I do as well. It's just so hard to tell when I should feed her and when I should let her get a little hungrier. Does that make sense? Like, if I feed her, will she eat for two seconds then be fussy again 5 minutes later? Or will she actually ready long enough to fall asleep? It's so hard to know what to do!

We never get the flu here. Colds yes, the flu I haven't had in close to 10 years.

The thing about flu shots is that (like all vaccines!!!) we need to get our shots to protect Those most vulnerable like babies and the elderly. And those who can't get the flu shot. Get your damn flu shots people.

Isn't the flu shot alittle but of a crap shoot though? I alway hear they are just picking the strands they believe will be going around that particular year? No medical background at all over here. We get all of our regular vaccines on time and without issues.
A already had his flu shot. I'm scheduled to get mine next week. H will get his whenever they're offered at his school, and Cam will get his at the 6 month appointment. We're very pro flu shot here. Even if they aren't perfect some is better than none!

We all get the flu shot, in general. DH has to for his work (and he has a shit immune system anyway). I never got it before getting pregnant, except one year when my grandfather was immunosuppressed, but now that I'm around littles and taking them to get their shots anyway, I get mine too. I've never had the flu before, but don't want to start while caring for two small children.

I can't imagine caring for kids with the flu. 😱

I've only had the flu twice. I would do anything to avoid having it again, especially with two kids!! I'm sick right now but the second I feel better I'm getting the shot.
So Baby I is great with supported sitting and is now constantly leaning/crunching forward to grab something. Yay! Except he doesn't support himself with his arms and just ends up bending really far forward and folding in half. It sure looks uncomfortable. I mean, I know kids are extra flexible and I'm a big believer in children's inner wisdom for development so I try to "let" him do whatever and only intervene if it's dangerous. However since he can't get into the supported sitting position by himself, I can't tell if his folding is developmentally necessary or if it's just lack of maturity.
Ok finally the question: What do you think? Do your LO's do the same thing? If so, do you let them explore the folded position or keep sitting them back up? Plus any developmental explanations would be lovely. Thanks!
P.S. Yes, I really do think this hard about everything. I know it's ridiculous. I enjoy it.
snoris Ridley bends over like that all the time. I just let her sit there like that for a while. She's now started picking her trunk up some to pull herself back slowly. And she rests on her arms some more. Based on what I've seen in her, I would assume it's a progression and needed to develop sitting up.
