Rants/Raves: I think my supply is dwindling. She is getting really mad after just a few seconds and will just shove me away but she doesn't do this in the morning when I've had all night to replenish. I'm thinking of keeping our morning feed and morning nap feed, dropping our 1 and 4pm feeds because those are really close to her lunch and supper so maybe she doesn't need them anyway with the amount of food she eats, then keep our bedtime feed. Today's plan is to drop 1pm, try at 4 and if she's still mad, just forget it. I tried to pump last night at 10pm after she hadn't nursed since 1pm and got not even an ounce combined from both. I was worried being pregnant would change things.


Goals: We're so close to 9m that I'll be happy just to get there. DD1 quit on me at 8m so I've already beat that and this kid actually enjoys nursing. That might make it harder for me if this doesn't work since before it was the kid but this time it's me. I was looking forward to tandem nursing but who knows. Maybe it's just an off couple of days.

Rants/Raves: After all the challenges and the refusal to nurse during the day we're at a good spot. She nurses once overnight, mornings and evenings and gets a couple bottles during the day. She's probably eating around 20 oz give or take. It means I have to pump on the weekens, but girlfriend doesn't want to day nurse. At this point it takes me about 7-10min to get 4 ounces so we're cool. I've let the pathetic side dry up and I'm exclusively feeding her on the right side.

Goals: I'm going to keep it up until I can't get anymore milk, she doesn't want it, or we hit a year.

Still going here. Little dude eats solids like a fiend but hasn't really changed his milk intake at all, so I feel like we'll be going for a while.

My supply is slowly going down. During the day I pump ~15oz vs 18-19 when I went back to work. We're still trucking along. She is taking 10oz most days so I'm doing nicely with stash. I'm going to try to go down to 2pumps/day . I'm planning to get to a year and go from there:)

Still going here too - we supplement with formula an ounce or two a day - he eats a fair amount of solid food but i haven't noticed any drop in amount of milk he wants. I feel like my supply dropped a bit after this last weekend's festivities. Hopefully it will pop back up or he will be getting more formula. At this point I feel ok with that so who knows how long we'll end up going. I'm sure we'll make it to 9 months but beyond that is anyone's guess.

A question for anyone who's done it - tips on night weaning? I think it may be contributing to our sleep problems, so I'd like to get him to drop his MOTN feeding(s).

I don't get to participate very often because work keeps me way too busy but we're still around kinda.

We're down to 2 pumps a day with no more than 4 oz total so we're pretty close to all formula during the day with nursing at night. We've all be sick on and off for like the last month and I think that plus the day weaning is starting to affect my supply at night but I hope it comes back because I don't think K is going to take not nursing at night very well.

Still here and I don't think my supply is dropping. I've already posted this in eleventy places but I'm trying to drop a pumping session at work. C had been steady w his daily intake at DC and I don't expect that to increase anymore as he eats more and more solids.

Still here! EBF, started my period (when I was traveling, of course - had to use a diaper as a pad) and my supply dipped a little, I think. Solid food meals aren't always reliable and I'm struggling to get into a routine to feed her because this summer has been chaotic.
I guess we will keep going until I dry up or she loses interest.

Go slow! I weaned entirely way too fast last time just bc I was so ready to be done w pumping. I ended up w very painful clogged ducts in both breasts.


Eta. I see your ques was actually about night weaning. Oh man, that was bad for us. I had to send mh in for all the MOTN Wakeups w my DD bc if she saw me she would be grabbing at my chest and trying to nurse.

Still here, still EBF. My supply has dropped some. I still nurse when she wakes, and then when I get home and when she goes to bed. I pump after her morning feeding, and 3x at work. At around 6 mo, DD added in a MOTN feeding. I used to pump the 15 oz she needed during my work pumping, and all my AM was freezer/donation. Now I'm consistently getting 11-12 during work and need to supplement from the morning pump session. Doable but a bummer.

allycat, I'm wondering the same thing because DD should be STTN, since she did from 2-6 months. Then I think I created a problem when she started waking, by introducing the boob. She acts hungry and eats are a bit, so I don't want to deny her food if she is hungry, but I think she is actually just comfort nursing and I need to just be stronger in getting her back down without eating.

Goals: still shooting for 1 yr pumping and seems doable since we are just about at 9 mo. Then I'd like to just nurse when I'm with her at night. When do they stop taking bottles?

I stopped giving my DD bottles at 12mo. That was surprisingly easy. I started giving her sippy cups around 10 months old. I would just send a mix of bottles and sippy cups to daycare. And eventually I stopped sending the bottles altogether -only cups.

When I started shuffling the cups/bottles for DC, I still put BM in the cups.
If your ques was for after 12mo, I gave WCM. I also used some toddler formula bc I was worried she wouldn't get enough nutrients after being off BM (very picky eater).

It's also worth mentioning that I had zero freezer stash w her bc I didn't go back to work til she was 10mo. I have a large stash w C so I think I'll be able to keep him on BM for at least a few weeks after I fully wean from nursing. So I may transition to WCM a bit later.

Nothing much to report here. Nursing is still good. Slowly nursing less as she eats more solids. DD1 self weaned -ish at 14 months; most likely she lost interest because I was drying up due to pregnancy. So I expect DD2 will go longer. Maybe I'll shoot for 18 months. I don't love it like you have to, to be a really long term nurser (though I have nothing against that!). But who knows, DD2 is such I good eater she may have her own plan. I am hoping night weaning will happen soon. She's gone one night without and is regularly at 1 feeding overnight. DH takes all the non-nursing wake ups, which helps a ton both with me getting sleep and with her not developing a nurse to sleep habit. While I'm hopeful she'll drop the last night feed, I won't force the issue until 12 months.

I don't plan on giving any WCM. She will drink my milk until she can live on solids and water, with the occasional watered down juice as a treat. But that's just me, dairy is kind of gross and unnatural IMO, but I think that is what most people serve after 12 months.

We switched to water and WCM. I avoided juice until DD1 was about 2 and then it was watered down 1:1 (still is) because people are prone to cavities in my family while DH's has no issues.

Still here, but my supply is dropping for sure. We do a morning wake up session and evening nursing session before bed. During the day he's only nursing 2-3 times on average. He's up to 3 solid meals most days now.

I'd like my body to hold out and keep producing milk until 12 months, but we'll see what happens.

Supply has definitely dropped. I'm about an ounce or more short during work pumping sessions so my once huge stash is just so so. After 12 months, I'll see how it goes (it's only a month and a half away). E loves the boob but I hate pumping so I'd like to keep the night and morning sessions until I dry up.

I wouldn't give juice at all. It causes cavities. My DD is 2.5 and she only gets milk and water. I have given her juice twice in her entire life.

So we cut down on sessions and now seem to be working better nursing at wake up, 1st nap, 2nd nap, bed time. I think this helps because she's tired an feeling snuggly and isn't so distracted like she was when I was trying to nurse her before meals when she was hungry and just looking for solids. I still don't think there's a lot there for her, but she takes longer to stop on her own which makes me feel better.

I'm still here. L is still fighting ear infections. He currently has a double ear infection. It makes nursing hard. I worry about my supply. On top of the ear infection he is extremely constipated. He screams every time he poops and barely anything comes out. I cut back solids and am trying to only BF to loosen his stool.

My goal has always been 18 months but at this point with everything else going on (related to me not the kids) I will nurse as long as he needs it/wants it.

@babylentilbean, pears have been clutch for us whenever F gets constipated. He looooooves them and they get things moving.

I'm still BFing. I actually had to use some domperidone basically the whole month of July. It worked like a charm though and I've weaned myself off that. We will probably start supplementing with a little bit of whole milk in the next month or so. I'm really really looking forward to not pumping anymore. Like burn the pump excited.

Rants/raves: breastfeeding has led me to cosleeping. I'm okay with te choice but it does effect my relationship with my husband as we don't get enough time together. He is also a sensitive sleeper and can be easily woken up. I'd also love it if he could go to sleep without me so that we could get a sitter and have a date. We will get there eventually.

Goals: I would like to nurse him in the toddler days but I want to reduce the feedings to just morning and night. I'll go back to work in November and I would like to still nurse but not pump. He should be having more solid food by then and he can have some whole milk during the day. He doesn't eat a lot of food yet but I offer him good every time I have a meal or snack now.

I do a lot of co-sleeping too samelly. C always starts out in the crib but I would say that 5-6 nights/week, I end up bringing him into our bed bc I get so tired of getting up w him.
