I think I've seen some of you ladies are taking progesterone. Just wondering what method/dose you're prescribed?
Tl;dr backstory: I was prescribed oral progesterone for the first trimester with my DS because my blood work tested low. (I had a previous m/c and my progesterone wasn't tested then.) I moved and have switched OBs for this pregnancy. New doc doesn't believe in oral progesterone and I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a pharmacy that carries the suppositories and insurance is being difficult in covering the gel. Any advice/anticdotes/information would be greatly appreciated!
I'm sorry everyone is being difficult for you. So weird.
I'm on the progesterone suppositories, 200mg nightly. I think my results were kind of marginal so they just went for it given my history of m/c.
Honestly my RE works in concert with a pharmacist to have them made up. So I pick them up at my RE's office and they bill the pharmacy for me. I have no idea where I would go for them otherwise.
Possibly a stupid question but have you asked your new doc where you are supposed to get these apparently non-existent suppositories?
mustloveerica, idk what PIO means but blood everywhere is the stuff of my nightmares! Yikes! I asked my doc about oral progesterone used as a suppository and she said she wouldn't prescribe it because of absorption issues. I would have been happy on oral progesterone bc it seemed to work when I was pregnant with DS.
sympkin my pharmacy called all of the competing pharmacies within a 20 mile radius and no one can make them. 😧 I think I've gotten the Crinone gel script worked out (fingers crossed), no thanks to my doc, insurance company, pharmacy, or specialty pharmacy. I've been on the phone so much this week and I'm still not sure when I'll get my script. Time is of the essence and I'm the only one who cares! So frustrating.
Update: I spent most of the day on the phone and ended up getting the Crinone 8% gel covered by my local pharmacy!!! I could cry, I'm so relieved! I'm taking it once daily, at bedtime, starting tonight. 🎉
