The doctor was so pleased! M is following her growth curve perfectly and even went up a little on the non-preemie chart! She had a little fever today after the shots yesterday and is definitely sleeper than usual.
Major milestones: Rolls everywhere, two teeth coming in, likes to stand, can sit without assistance for a tiny bit, puts everything in her mouth, laughs a lot, interacts with toys and plays with purpose
Personality quirks, AW: she is so social and loves to be with people and to be outdoors. Loves the camera and is starting to notice the pets. She's generally so happy and always smiles, even when she's still a crappy sleeper.
W has been deemed a BF success and his pedi couldn't be prouder.
Major milestones: rolling both ways consistently, trying to pike up on his knees while on his tummy, laughing at facial expressions, champion drooler. He is a bit behind on fine motor skills and not sitting, but we will be working on that.

Height: 19 1/4 / 23 / 24 1/4 / 25 1/5 Weight: 8lbs 12oz / 11lbs 2oz / 12lbs 2oz / 13lbs 1oz Major milestones by this point: Sits completely independently for over 10 minutes at a time, grabs at toys away from her, can roll both ways, spins in a circle on tummy, responds to facial expressions, babbles, lifts arms up when she wants you to pick her up Personality quirks/AW: She's such a love. She reached for the nurse to hold her at the appointment. Her smiles completely melt my heart. She's obsessed with my phone and anything I'm also using (laptop, tv remote, etc.) She gets really mad at things such as when she spits up, it's hilarious because she's soooo offended by it. She also LOVES anything that makes music. She plays her piano like a pro.
So she gained less than a pound in two months. I started supplementing on monday because I can't keep up with pumping. She's also getting 4oz of puree at daycare as of monday. Dr. wants us to talk to daycare and see if she is still hungry after her bottles and if so to add more. I'm ok as long as I can nurse her in the morning and at night. I'm not ready to give up nursing yet. We're going to add in a formula bottle at dinner time along with big people food and most likely one for one of her MOTN wakeups. It's getting to be that time of the month so I'm barely pumping 8oz at this point. I'm also calling my pediatrician's office for my growth charts because I was 15lbs at 1 year and I wasn't a preemie. My husband is on the small side too. I had a spinal tap at 4 years because I wasn't growing and lo and behold it was just genetics. Sorry for the novel but it's really hard not to feel like a shitty mom when you are drilled for 20 minutes about what you're feeding your kid and how much.

SheilaTheTank You absolutely don't have to give up nursing. Supplement as much as needed! I went through something similar with DS1 when I couldn't pump enough for him at work when I started back 5 months pp. So from 6-9 months, we only nursed first thing in the morning and right before bed and he got formula during the day. I gave up at 9 months because he just didn't want to nurse anymore and preferred the bottle, but he at least got some breast milk for 3 more months. You can make it work for you, too! Feel free to PM me with questions.

SheilaTheTank DD1 was 13 lbs 0 oz at 6 months and I expect DD2 to be about the same. First I would honestly consider finding a new doctor, yours does not sound supportive or helpful at all. Second, any way you can replace some of the purees with formula or breastmilk? Those are way more nutritionally dense than food and will help with weight gain! You can seek out donor breastmilk as well.

SheilaTheTank, I would think about switching doctors. She should not be getting full or even any real nutrition from purees or other foods at this age. Also, formula doesn't necessarily make baby fuller if you don't want to give up a session on the breast. Keep on going and never feel bad about supplementing with formula.

Also SheilaTheTank in case your doctor did not do this I would strongly urge you to see a lactation consultant ASAP. Make sure it's an IBCLC and not just some hospital hack (sorry, the ones here are HORRIBLE). K could have a tongue tie or shallow latch that may be affecting milk transfer.
SheilaTheTank I just want to say hugs! That is so stressful. Your LO is ahead on developmental milestones and growing though so she may just be a small baby. I hope everything goes ok at the weight check!

+1 to this. My doctor told us to hold off on solids so E gets enough nutrition and calories from formula since he was in 2nd percentile.

So I was surprised by the suggestion to change doctors so I went back and read my emotionally charged word vomit and I can see where the confusion came from.
Here's what the pedi suggested -record all feedings amounts and times for the next week -continue nursing as often as I am and offer the breast more often if im able -continue to supplement and add in a formula bottle if K seems hungry after breastfeeding since my supply radically dips around this time -speak with daycare to see if K is acting hungry after her bottles and to see where we can add more feedings -dont bother with cereals seeing that we skipped them and just went to fruits and veggies -focus on feeding ad lib with the goal of getting as much calories into her as possible.
I talked to daycare today and here's our plan -on Monday I will up it to 4 4oz bottles. Two of them formula and two bm. I will also add in a 5th formula bottle that they can use to top off her bottles. -today they will give her the three bottles I sent. They will give her puree after each bottle to try and top her off. We tried this last night and it worked. After giving her a 4oz bottle we offered her two more ounces. She didn't want it but she did eat two ounces of puree instead. -today they will use the formula packets I sent a while ago to give her an extra 4oz.
What im doing -the brewer's yeast capsules came in yesterday and I started taking them. I've noticed when I consistently ingest that nasty powder it does help with my supply -I got new tubing for my pump and replaced all the membranes with new ones -I'm emailing my LC today. I saw her every week at breastfeeding group while I was on leave and she was immensely helpful.
I didnt mean to suggest that the pediatrician was condescending or unhelpful. MH was at the appointment and he reminded me that she was just trying to get an idea of how many calories K was getting and when.
K has dropped from being over 98th percentile to being under 10th percentile. It would be extremely irresponsible as a health care professional to not address it. K is getting dangerously close to being diagnosed as failure to thrive. The pedi pointed out that we just need to rule out external factors such as adequate calorie intake and then they need to check for internal factors such as a metabolic disorder.
It sucks because no matter how it's presented, I'm still going to feel shitty about it. I'm trying really hard to not beat myself but I keep going back to the fact that I should have started supplementing two months ago when I noticed my supply dropping off.

I'm so sorry SheilaTheTank. I'm sending you all the hugs! You are doing everything you can for lo, so please try not to beat yourself up about it! Keep us updated when you go back next week!

Just realized we don't have our 6 month visit on the calendar so I called to book it. The earliest they could get us in was a month from now. Whoops! #secondchildprobz

When you go to an appointment do they not let you book the next one before leaving? I'm just curious
