Today was G's first day at daycare. I was sad and nervous, but he was a happy baby when I dropped him off. I had to drop my car off to get fixed and wait forever for the rental car. By the time I was done, it was time to pick up G. We are doing short days this week since we had to pay anyways. He did fine but wanted his mama as soon as he saw me.

teraiin we want it both ways too lol which is how we arrived at day care. We did some serious number crunching and I did what I needed to meet the number at the bottom line this past year. It's tough so I feel you.
Yep. Just had our 3mo growth spurt for sure haha. Two days of fussy, short naps, cluster feeding, comfort nursing/napping while latched, followed by today, the sleepiest day ever. Kid has been napping all day. And some babbling, rolling. Go baby I!!! I love seeing what's new after growth spurts.
teraiin that is some ridiculous advice all around. It amazes me that people think this way. I always try to think what our kids will say to us that seems crazy. Will they say "omg you let us do tummy time at 1 month?!" Like something so normal to us, that future research will show is crazy.
I cried on Saturday because the summer is almost over and that will be the end of my time with J at home. I so enjoyed my maternity leave. I know she will be in good hands (DH for six weeks), but it's just not being able to have that time with her anymore.

It is fun! DS has started grabbing things by choice (doesn't know what he wants to do with it once he's got it haha) and talks allll the time. It's so neat.
Hugs to all you mommas and you first daycare days! Your all so strong I went to work at 7 this morning and got off at 12 I'm so tired ... Me and Ry are just hanging around the house the rest of the day
We are.. Having a rough time over here. 20 min cat naps, following by screaming for an hour until I can get him to calm down enough to nurse and (if lucky) another cat nap.

Hang in there mommas who are headed back to work!
I am pumping in the supply closet and can hear that my male boss just came up to talk to the administrative assistant. Totally awkward... What will be more awkward is the conversation we may have later when he tells me that I supposed to pump in the lactation room. Which is four floors down and always in use but they insist that it be the only pump space used since they provide it. I am content in the closet, thank you very much.

Hopefully he will let you stay in your closet!
Lol another thing I never thought I'd hear (see?) someone say

It did feel like a sitcom. I also had some performance anxiety I think and only pumped half of what I normally do. He didn't say a word when we just had our meeting. I think I am safe to continue to stay in my closet.
The straight jacket that I ordered for DS just got delivered. I put him in it (without washing) just to make sure it fit and... He's out like a light. Snoring up a storm. Fx that it keeps up. My sanity needs it.

First time putting L in the crib for her nap with the Magic Merlin sleep suit! ....watching her on the monitor, so far she's just cooing and talking to herself in there. At least she's not fussing I guess?
FX that it works it's "magic" and helps our crib transition!

Obviously my experience may not be yours but I could kiss the inventor of the Merlin suit. W slept 8 hours the first night in it, woke only once the next, and from there on has either slept all night or woken up for a minute and put himself (!) back to sleep. We are almost a week in and I feel like a whole new and well-rested mom. Hopefully you have the same experience.
Hmm this kid is comfort nursing like crazy lately. Usually a once in a while thing. I'm chalking it up to his supposed growth spurt. He is legit sleeping while latched right now and hugging my boob.
Also my cousin just organized everything for baby I's baptism party! She's the God Mother. It's going to be a beautiful party! Usually in our family money is given to the child and used to start a long term savings account.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Always good to hear from people who it worked well for.
The first attempt at putting her in the crib with it was a fail ...in that she didn't sleep. I think she wasn't tired enough so I took her out. When she started fussing again and I could see her eyes closing, I put her back in the suit. She didn't like it...was screaming and crying. But I rocked and shushed her and she was out in a minute.
Put her in the crib and she's still asleep! FX it works...I'm thinking (hoping!) it will because she moves a lot in her sleep, even in the RnP. And I think those movements cause her to wake herself up. She hates the swaddle but seems to tolerate this better. I'm guessing because it doesn't feel as constricting

I have to admit I'm on the fence about getting the Merlin sleep suit.
I've been transitioning DS out of the swaddle (he's currently one arm out) and he's been sleeping in the crib. So far I've been getting ~6 hour stretch followed by a 3 hour and then 1-2 hours for the remainder of the night. I'm wondering if I should see how he does once we do just a sleep sack and go from there.

I probably wouldn't get it if my LO was sleeping that well in the crib! .....in my case, she fights the crib so hard and even with all the tricks I've tried so far, it's like 20 mins of sleep at a time!
Anddd she just woke up from her nap in the merlins suit. Sigh*. That was 25 mins. I'll keep trying with it. Hopefully it gets better

PSA- do not bathe your toddler in your big a$$ tub while wearing your sleeping infant. I have totally pulled my lower back from the wierd positions I was in trying to wash the toddler while being safe with the baby. Everything hurts - it's terrible. This was yesterday and all I want to do is lay with a heating pad but all baby wants to do is sleep on my boob
Also another tip: letting said toddler wash thier baby while you give the actual baby a bath is not as picturesque as it was in my head. We attempted this after the above bad desicion. Never again
