I'm having an emotional morning. Not only did my baby turn one a couple weeks ago, he started walking this weekend and now...big sister (who will be 3 in 2 weeks) got promoted to PreK3 at daycare ðŸ˜
I don't normally get too weepy about stuff but seeing her cubby in the new class got to me. How has 3 years passed?! When I look at pics from even 6 months ago, she looked like such a baby. Now she's clearly a little girl! No more baby or toddler but a preschooler!!
Same here, DD will move into the PreK room in 2 weeks. It's a whole new part of the daycare and new playground. It's like big girl school. Time has flown.

I was JUST thinking about this. I got an email from the Y letting us know we moved from the Nemo swim class (2-3yrs) up to Pike (3-5yrs) in September. Ahhh
No preschool here :/ . DH and I were going back and forth about signing her up but with the new house and new baby in February we just dropped the ball on it. I know a lot of kids don't go to preschool til 4 but I can't help but feel like I'm doing something wrong not putting her in a 3 year old program. Quite frankly, it would have been a nice little break a few days a week for DS and I to get some one on one time and I know she would have majorly benefited from it. Ugh!! Mom fail for sure.
I'm a SAHM so no daycare, but D will be starting 2 day/week preschool in two weeks!
This, but in a month.
She's so excited and I'm so emotional... I think that she'll love it though and I'll have some one on one time with DD2, who is also a total toddler now.

lilqt3929, I wouldn't sweat it! I had no intentions of signing DD up but a spot opened up near our house and I figured we'd try it out. Preschool isn't actually a common thing here until 4, if at all.

We are doing preschool @4. Don't worry about it! Maybe just try to do library craft/story time or something else that gets him around groups of toddlers. We use the Y a lot and my DD gets some interaction there
Thanks ladies! It's so hard to know if you're doing the right thing with decisions like this. It's common where I live for preschool to start at 4 but I just hear a lot of people who start earlier. We do storytime at least once a week and have a Y membership (DD cries when we leave her in the daycare but seems to have had fun when we pick her up), starting swimming lessons and a mommy and me class. MIL also has started bringing her to random toddler classes (music/movement and art) once a week at night to get some special grandma time. I'm sure she gets plenty of interaction and opportunities to learn in all these settings. I'm not ready for her to be big enough to start "school" anyways lol.
On another note has anyone thought about girlscouts/boyscouts for our threenagers? I nor DH never participated as a kid so we dont have much experience. Just wondered if anyone was thinking about it.
DD is also not in preschool this year. She misses the cut off by a couple of weeks. Which means she'll likely get only 1 year of preschool before heading to kinder as a not quite 5 year old. Unless for some unforeseen reason we decide to hold her back a year.
I worry about whether we're making the right decisions also. There's so many parenting decisions you don't consider when you think about having a baby!

Don't at all! I know many who don't start until 4, if at all. Not sure what your school cut offs are, but ours are 9/1, so DD gets 2years of preschool then PreK before starting Kindergarten anyway.

DS1 started PK3 2 weeks ago. He is so big and they really have it set up like school. I would rather him play all day sing and do crafts. Oh well. No nature schools in our area and the Montessori pk don't have compatible hours for us. At least this program is center based. I think swimming will be our extracurricular this year.
