TMI Tuesday! And all that other stuff

MORNING!

It's Tuesday which means its not Monday which means one day down and 4 to go.

TMI: With the Olympics going I have felt a lil more competitive about things lately but there is one thing I am definitely not getting a gold medal in and that is regularity. I wish I could say that oh Colace and all the other fun things to take to get a bowel movement would help but its not. I get the comments of oh more fiber...how much more spinach and broccoli do I need to eat dear lord. The fact that I feel like I am getting at least a silver for actually going every 4 days is pretty sad. Like I literally get excited...TODAY IS THE DAY! Then its short lived as I wait for the next 4 days to elapse. lol.

In other news: My inlaws get here tomorrow and thank the gods I have a maid coming now every other week. I just looked at my house yesterday and wanted to just go get on a plane to the Bahamas and come back later. Anyone else's home suffering from pregnancy progressing? I try and rally..its a struggle.

WineNChocolate, I can't even imagine trying to keep a house somewhat clean with a 1.5 year old and one on the way. We can barely keep it together and it's just the two of us. You deserve so much extra maid service right now...

I'm so frustrated this morning because we've been having some issues with our chimney, it just needs to be replaced. It has rained every day the last few days and it's looking like it is just never going to stop. My poor H has been nonstop putting towels down/cleaning up/calling people to come look at the chimney. I finally told him this morning just to take the morning off of work, go buy a wet/dry vac and keep calling people. I'm so over this. And I don't even want to think about what's happening inside our walls

For my TMI, the basement isn't the only wet area lately. I'm going to awkwardly ask my Dr today about this, but the last couple of weeks I'm soaking through my underwear if not wearing a liner. I'm a little concerned about amniotic fluid but I know that's pretty unlikely... Cue the worrying...

Winnifred, ugh for the chimney having a leak..I can only imagine the worry of the possible damage and then mold that might occur due to that! On the super leakage. I think you are good and its probably not amniotic fluid..with DD I got really wet about this time and it got worse till I had her. I can just say panty liners are the normal go to thing now. I mean you absolutely could ask your Dr but your body just produces that farther you get along. NOT to say its at all "fun". On the note of cleaning is it bad when you worried about what your maid thinks when she comes to clean..I feel judged. But if it were clean well then she wouldn't have to come right.

Winnifred, I am having the same issue of feeling really "wet" down there. I am 99% sure it's sweat, but it did cross my mind that it's amniotic fluid.

FFTC: I stole a nice chair from the work conference room and decided that I'm going to use it at work for the next 3 months or so....my chair at work was such a POS and yet the conference room had these beautiful new chairs with lumbar support. My body is so much happier today.

Winnifred add me to the wet list too. It's just been in the last week that it's gotten bad. Yesterday it was so hot in my meeting I had sweated through my underwear and my jeans(which luckily were dark). I need to get some liners this weekend. It also crossed my mind about amniotic fluid but since it gets better when I cool down I'm not super worried.

I've upped my night time bathroom visits this week. I had been at one around 4 and now it's 12 and 3 the last few nights. It sucks because if I'm asleep I can sleep through DH's snoring but getting back to sleep sucks.

Winnifred, me too! I figured it was sweat b/c it's been so dang hot and humid here...and there's been a time or two when i worried that it amniotic fluid, but it sounds like it's just a normal thing at this stage so I'm going to try and tell my PGAL brain to hush and not dwell on it.

WineNChocolate, requiressnacks, @cahistoryteacher, tbonequeen13 - I'm so glad it's not just me!! Thank you for commiserating. I wondered if some of it was sweat, too. So gross. This is one of those instances where I squirm just thinking about talking to my Dr since he's only a few years older than me... I need to just get over it.

And requiressnacks, steal all the chairs you need!!! I think with twins on the way especially that you should be a little selfish. Maybe they can order you a nice one if they don't want to lose the conference room chair?

Winnifred, Ugh... that sucks. We actually just re-roofed our house and so we took our chimney off. It was kind of crumbling anyway, and the fireplace is only in our basement which we don't use that often so we're just removing it completely. It's actually nice because not only did we save a lot of money on a chimney repair, but we also gained a lot of extra room in our main bathroom! DH is super handy and has remodeled most of the house, but we have the bathroom left and we have a contractor coming over tonight to give us an estimate. If DH did it, it'd be out of commission for awhile and I refuse to use the basement bathroom plus there's no tub in that one for G. I hope it's nothing major for you!

I'm not really having the wetness problem yet, however on Sunday my left thigh (but towards the front if that makes sense) was super chaffed. I don't know how that happened, but I had to have DH squirt me with some baby powder. I couldn't really see that part over my belly so thankfully he was home to help. Although he put A LOT on me and then I could barely breath thru all the dust. LOL.

kaydee0402, hahaha that's what I am saying I am dry too...BUT my DH is around which makes for a really awkward moment when he realizes he has to do a lot more to get things a flowin'. We don't have the go for it moments anymore..it has to be planned out and well orchestrated lol.

So, the general board consensus was that the 8 hour childbirth class was kind of a waste of time, right? I think I'm going to register for a 4 hour newborn care class and read about childbirth on my own.

requiressnacks, We never did childbirth classes.... I feel like no matter how much you could "prepare" in those classes.... it's just going to go how it's going to go. Some people have these birth plans and then are very disappointed when they don't go that way. In my opinion, you should just be as open to everything as possible and go with the flow! My only wish about my birth was that I would be able to hold G as soon as she had came out, and that didn't even get to happen.... so.... it is what it is.


Has anyone tried maternity shapewear? I'm in a wedding on Saturday and with how humid it's been and how lumpy I am, I was thinking of getting one with shorts so that I don't get thigh chaff and it can suck my lovehandles in.... thoughts?

Also, I've never tried maternity shapewear, but I am a big fan of Jockey Skimmies. They aren't super tight and constrictive like spanx, but they are perfect for preventing chub rub. I love wearing shorts under dresses in summer. (PS - skimmies don't come in maternity, but I'm still wearing my regular ones in a larger size)

hmr11913. it was a good hour before I got to hold DS due to having an emergency c-section and having no feeling from the neck down, and therefore being unable to hold my baby. I'm hoping this time around I can hold my baby sooner!

requiressnacks, pretty much. Especially since you're having twins and it seems that twin moms very rarely deliver naturally, most wind up with c-sections. I know several twin moms and only one had a natural birth. But talk to your doctor/midwife team and see what they recommend.

I'm Team No Classes this time around. Yay for BTDT!

Actually, I think my hospital offers a Big Brother/Big Sister class I might do with DS. Could be cute!

Awww, I'm sorry, kaydee0402. Mine was only probably 5 minutes as she had to get checked out by Nicu (who was in our room) but it seemed like an eternity when all you want to do is hold your baby. I really had wanted her to be laid directly on my chest right after born so I was bummed I couldn't, and when they gave her to me she was all wrapped up... but, I was just glad she was okay and healthy.

I feel like births can just be a total whirlwind and rarely would go according to plan.

requiressnacks, I'm doing the same as you. Signed up for breastfeeding, infant care and CPR/First Aid (free through our EMS). No childbirth classes for me. My doctor said if it would stress me out, it's not worth it.

hmr11913, like requiressnacks, I love my Skimmies for under dresses. I also have some maternity Spanx (but the target version that's made by Spanx but less expensive), and I've started wearing those now that I'm getting a bigger belly. They're WAY less constrictive than Spanx but still hold things in, and really I just wear them to stop the chaffing, especially with the heat and added pregnancy moisture mentioned above. I love both options, and don't really see myself wearing a dress without them for the foreseeable future. They don't seem to make much of a difference in my body temperature anyway, since it's already so dang hot outside.

My TMI and also a PSA, as I said I'd report back. Big fat no on the Walmart maternity workout pants. Don't waste your time/money becuase those things are TRANSPARENT!!! I told my husband, and he was doubting me, so I bent over in front of him. Then he was like "...well...yeah...you could wear some full-coverage underwear!" No thank you, when I'm already sweating like crazy and trying to feel good about working out. I'll pony up the extra $$$ and get some pants that make me look and feel good, without worrying about giving everyone a show they definitely do not want.

Amen.  I got too hung up on my birth plan last time and dealt with some depression afterwards.  So my plan this time is to just have a safe and healthy baby and not worry how it comes into the world.

lola,I found some maternity yoga pants on clearance at Kohls...now I'm not wearing them to work out, I'm wearing them as capris b/c I can't find any maternity shorts or capris I don't hate...but they are nice material, not see through, and super soft...in fact, the only thing I dislike is that they don't have pockets so I have to cram my phone and meter in my purse...but I'm going to be living in them until it gets cool enough to wear my maternity jeans

Question for everyone today - are you closely tracking/monitoring your weight gain? I'm just above the BMI minimum to be considered 'overweight' (thanks a lot, BMI calculator...), so I'm seeing online that I should only gain 15 - 25 lbs. At 23 weeks I've gained 11 lbs and my dr said I'm right on track, although it sounds like I'm a lb or two ahead.

Anyway, does everyone worry about this or do you just assume that you'll gain what you gain and lose it later?

My outlook related to food/fitness has been to keep everything in moderation and get in some physical activity almost every day. It's really hard to find healthy things I actually want to eat.

P.S. I also asked about my wetness problem and Dr. said it was nothing to worry about. Glad it's NBD!

I am already over this trying to sleep while pregnant BS. I officially can only sleep on one position -- on my left side, or I wake up gasping for breath and panicking because I feel like I can't breathe. I was able to sleep on my right side for a bit, but even that is out now. I have a feeling I'll be moving to a recliner to sleep a lot earlier than I had anticipated. That just means more crappy sleep because I can't sleep in a recliner either.

Winnifred, I have regained 1 lb of the weight I lost in the first trimester so far, so I'm still below my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm overweight by about 25lbs anyway, so my doctor doesn't seem concerned at all by my lack of weight gain so far.

My doctor told me to stop gaining weight. And it wouldn't be the worst thing if I lost some. LOL. I've probably gained like 20lbs, but what is expected when you're starving all the time for months? I really think it's time to change OB/GYN practices when I'm done with this pregnancy. I'm glad H was with me last time when she said that to me, so he doesn't think that I'm over exaggerating when I say that I get fat-shamed every time I go in there. ::shrugs::

So. Sex. I can do it, right? I have no reason to believe I can't... I've been cleared for it back when I was still at the RE, and my cervical length at the last appointment was long and closed. It's just been so long I don't want to fuck anything up in there, you know? I mean, normal people do this. This is how normal people get pregnant in the first place. Just tell me it'll be fine and do it and stop overthinking it.

Winnifred, My dr hasn't commented on my weight so far.  I started overweight and in my last pregnancy was told not to gain too much. I think total I gained around 20 lbs.  Right now, I am up about 15 lbs.  So, faster weight gain than my first. And this is supposed to ramp up in 3rd tri, so yeah, I worry. Not because I have to take it off, but just health wise for me and the baby. I try to avoid fast food. But the carbs are calling my name each day. I'll continue to watch what I eat as much as I can and get more walks in (yay cooler weather!).

lastnamewithheld, you're dr is mean.  I was told to watch my weight, even got asked what I had been eating and then told to hold off on the bread (last preg). At no point did they say stop gaining weight, how is that possible with growing a baby?! Hope you do find a more supportive obgyn and/or practice. 

And yes, feel free to have sex while you still can.  I just avoid any rough stuff that can irritate your cervix and cause spotting.  

My TMI- Lately I end up getting myself off rather than trying to figure out how/when to have sex with DH. When he's around I get him to work massaging my back, the important stuff I can't get to!
