I've mentioned before that my H really wants to name our daughter after his great aunt who was more like a grandmother to him. I loved Aunt Ellen as well, but I'm just not in love with the name. It is growing on me though.
I asked if we named her like Ellen Catherine if we could call her Elle, and he seemed okay with that. I just really don't want to go with the overused Ellie/Ella nn.
We're also thinking about double names Ellen Kate or Kate Ellen as nns.
#1 - 10/10 | #2 - lost but not forgotten 10/12 | #3 - 7/13 | #4 - 5/15 Diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 12/19/16 Finished with chemo 4/27/17! Double mastectomy summer 17 Radiation fall 17
I don't like Elle as a standalone name. I'm not huge on it as a nickname either, but there are worse things.
Ellen is nice on its own. Never been big on double names.
Have you considered other names where Elle as a nickname wouldn't be too much of a stretch? Like maybe Eleanor? Even Elaine wouldn't be too big of a stretch in my mind.
Also, anyone else think of "Elle" (aka Eleven) from Stranger Things now when they hear the name? Or am I the only weird one?
No to Elle. I think of "she" in French and Elle Woods from those terrible Reese Witherspoon movies. There's also no getting away from the El- trend here at all. You gotta own that.
I do love Ellen. I think your best bet is a double first name. I don't care for Ellen as the first - I think flows better as the second. Katie Ellen, Mary Ellen, etc.

Her name was actually Mary Ellen. I'm thinking if we use Ellen, it will probably be in the mn spot. There are so many other fns I love more.
I can't help you there. Mine was evicted. I'm convinced he'd still be in there if I weren't induced.
I want so badly to go into labor on my own. But, I also want this kid born in August and I'm struggling horribly with the end right now (physically).
I'm a jumble of feelings over this.
I totally understand. I am sort of sad that I didn't get to experience spontaneous labor, especially since the pitocin kicked my ass (I made it two hours with contractions thirty seconds apart with horrible back labor before I said "give me a freaking epidural"). Just remember, how the baby gets here doesn't matter as long mom and baby are happy and healthy! You're going to do great, mama!
