Lsquared, do you mind sharing how you did it?
How is it going pinktartan9?
I ask because I have basically decided sleep training has to happen. Our circumstances were different with DS and we had more flexibility/free time. H has DD on the days he doesn't have class and she needs to nap somewhere other than his arms. My mom and sister watch her when H has class. Same goes for them. I know if she is sleeping better/through the night she should also nap better. So tell me all your secrets. I don't want to do this but I don't see another way at this point. 😰
We just CIO with checks.
Night one checks at 1,3,5min then every 5min until asleep.
Night two checks at 3,5,7min then every 7 until asleep.
Night three and every night after checks at 5,7,10min then every 10 until asleep.
We initially did it for putting to sleep and MOTN wake ups before 5am. I knew he could go that long without eating because he had done it plenty of times in the past.
We try not to go in unless he's really worked up. Majority of the time he will find his paci and pop it back in and that's the end of it. By the end of night two he was good.
Now with all of that said, I find it extremely difficult to listen to him cry. My husband does not have the same issue so he offered to do the ST in our house and I went outside with a glass of wine to calm my nerves.
We used the same method with my daughter and she's been an awesome sleeper. Consistency is key!
I bought the Ferber book and read some of it when we were going to ST DD. He says there are good ages to sleep train and not so good ages. I remember 6mo being one of the good times. I could find the book and check out the ages if you want.
