We did a mix of homemade and ready made, depending on how much work it was. Butternut squash and sweet potatoes are super easy. Peeling, steaming, and coring pears and apples was too much work.

Yeah, we started with homemade but we used store bought pouches at times as well. I tried so hard to keep DDs diet as clean as possible. It lasted until about age 2 when her dad shared junk food with her. Now she's a regular kid who eats Mac and cheese and pizza is her favorite. I will say that she eats just about anything and loves veggies. I am grateful for that!
They all have mcDs or pizza or candy eventually. They have likes and dislikes like everyone else. DS wouldn't eat puréed carrots. Still will not eat carrots except for the one time I gave him a quarter. Sometimes you just don't like something. On the other hand he would eat watermelon and strawberries all day. Don't fret.

We made DD1's food and I will be doing the same for this girl. I know she will end up eating pouches later on and chick Fil a will probably be her favorite thing but I think there is a big taste difference between jarred and fresh so I like the fresh for first experiences. And it's fun for me.

+1 to making food. A few reasons: 1) it will be more cost effective to just purée a bit of whatever we are having, 2) we have a freaking vitamix 😍, 3) we tend to have a good variety of food so we know he'll get loads of nutrients, 4) organic is important to us and 5) (this list is longer than I thought it would be) we very rarely eat out, and never ever eat fast food. I'm sure he will experience junk food some day, but we save those things for special rare occasions.
I have to put a plug in here about homemade baby food. It's really not as "Betty Home Maker" as it sounds. I used the Baby Brezza and would throw in frozen veggies and it would cook and purée them. 2 mins of work and I'd get 5 meals. So easy!
what do you store the food in? just tupperware? trying to figure ut for daycare eventually
I will not be doing rice cereal and will start solids at 6 months. He turns 6 months on Thanksgiving so how appropriate to give him his first foods that day Sweet potatoes!
ETA: I made all of DD's baby food and plan on making all of DS's. I can't make breastmilk but I can make babyfood and that brings me joy... I just buy organic veggies, steam them, blend them with water in my bullet until a puree consistency and then freeze! We will also do a mixture of solids too.

I froze it in ice cube trays and then transferred to Ziploc bags. I would thaw whatever I needed. I had to line the ice cube trays with plastic wrap so the food cubes were easy to pop out.

+1 to ice cube trays. I will probably start making stuff at 5 months and freezing. I really enjoy my Bebea food maker. I also am excited to try some Weelicious recipes - did find out about those books until toddler years. Also, love the yellow Williams Sonoma baby food book - the name escapes me right now. For daycare, I just sent in little gerber bowls with kids. I also have some small Oxo cubes but they kind of stink and I use them for other things.

My pedi said we could start rice cereal with breastmilk mixed in it (not in a bottle) now if we wanted to, but I will not be doing rice cereal at all. She said to follow B's cues and feed him when he's interested. I'm planning to wait until 6 months and do avocado and veggies BLW style. If he doesn't take to BLW, then we will do some veggie purees to start.

Another vote for ice cubes trays and freezing in ziplocs or Tupperware. I would thaw what we needed for the day and send in a small container to daycare.

I got mini canning jars (4oz) and the plastic screw tip lids and used those. I would freeze them in those and pull out that morning/ night before to thaw. I microwaved to warm and didn't want to use plastic.
