LydiaDeetz our newborn stash consists of prefolds and Thirsties covers. We have fitted for night because I didn't want to try and roll up a prefold in my sleep deprivedness.
ourcrazynavylife are thirsties covers OS, or does the smallest rise fit NB pretty good? I love love my Grovia (99% of my stash) and really all I use right now. DD (14 months / 25 lbs) is still on the smallest rise.

From my limited research I think the ones id be most interested in are fitted, AIOs and AI2s. I don't think DH would be willing to do anything he has to fold/pin and I think AIO and AI2 would be best for babysitters and my mom who will watch baby a couple days a week. AI2s are the front runners for me. Thoughts?
Should I register for a couple kinds of CDs but not many and then buy more when I decide what I like later on?
That is a very good idea mustloveerica. I chose 3 diapers of most kinds and several brands. AIOs are the most convenient in my opinion: you take them of the drying rack and put them on baby, no stuffing is required unless you're adding absorbency. They do take longer to dry. My fave AIOs are Grovias and Blueberry simplex. I use AI2s when we are home or running short errands. I use soakers with them, and they're super convenient too. I had a few pockets when I started too, but eventually sold them because I liked AIOs and AI2s. Hope my anecdote helps!

Have you experienced any leaking with AI2s? These are my favorite right now. But I'm wondering how well they work.

Our stash right now consists of bumgenius Freetimes and Grovia hybrids. With that being said we're destashing our grovia right now. They fit our lo well & Are a great company but we just don't reach for the all-in-two system.
mustloveerica I would register for a handful of each and make sure they're reputable brands. That way if you don't like them you can sell them or trade them down the road for ones you do like.
I didn't think DH would want to pin anything. But I didn't really give him a choice. The prefolds with a jelly roll just work so well for newborn poop.
Long story short. I think getting a little bit of everything to try is the best. just because you like a certain system/brand doesn't mean it will fit your kiddo.
We prefer the AIOs. So we'll be a mix of the BG FTs and Smart Bottoms AIOs.
We have mostly Grovia AI2 with the stay dry soakers. C is outpeeing them pretty quickly now. We also have Thirstiest AIO for daycare, which I love. Our back up/forgot to do laundry stash is some flats and best bottoms covers, which also work pretty well. We only did OS last time, so for this one we are going to do a newborn stash.

aviatrix we had the same issue with our StayDry. I recommend people go with the no preps or organic cotton for better absorbency. (They're discontinuing StayDry anyways)
My favorite newborn diaper was Kawaii pure and natural. They are a pain to stuff, but the fit lasts for kk this. They also make an awesome square tab Velcro diaper.
aviatrix I think that's ridiculously impressive that you can use no preps overnight :-O
Only when we stuff the flour sack towel between the layers. No go otherwise. She has never peed much at night. When she was sleeping through the night she would wake up dry, and then absolutely flood her first diaper.

I LOVED flips as a nanny and you can get second on their website that you can't tell there is anything not perfect about them. As a mom cloth isn't for me, too time consuming being a single working mom. A friend of mine in DC is using a rental service for the newborn sizes whcihc seems like it would save a lot of money. It also really helps to have a partner that is on board with it.
