ourcrazynavylife I used a stroller through the airport. Like ashlantic said, it kept her contained and I wasn't carrying all the bags. Gate checked that sucker. I didn't have time to do something nice with the carseat. I checked it with luggage (free at the time with southwest) and they wrapped it in a bag so parts weren't flying everywhere. Lots of snacks, plenty to drink (I have a thirsty kid), and lots of activities. Most airlines, I found, weren't keen on baby wearing on the plane, but you could totally use it in the airport. Oh, and don't forget the blankie!

Afternoon snack. My grandma's house in mexico had pomegranite and lime trees. We'd peel the pomegranite and eat it with lime and salt. Once we used the lemon squeezer on the pomegranite seeds but didn't enjoy that as much. Little did we know that would one day be bottled and sold!
I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of it. Like should I check the car seat. Should I gate check it? If the seat next to me is open should I just bring it on the plane?
I was going to bring a carrier of some sort. Should I bring a stroller?
Lol. I feel like I'm seriously overthinking this.
Where are you going? If the place you are going has a company that offers baby rentals, I often think renting there is the way to go. I have even just bought a cheapie stroller and then left it/sold it before I flew back home. When I travel, I rent a car seat from the rental car company. If you aren't renting a car, then bring yours and gate check it.
Have a carrier but ditch the stroller if she likes being worn. The luggage roller thingies you can rent at the airport are gold- toss everything on there and you can go wherever you need to and just wear baby or she can sit in the kid seat on the cart. It makes layovers and waits much more tolerable. The less you have to carry on board, the better. You will need your hands as free as possible.
To cut down on luggage, I only bring diapers in the diaper bag, and then buy small packs while I'm wherever I'm supposed to be. Also have a change of clothes for her and one for you- trust me on this. Three of my four kids have crapped all over me on a plane, and the which first time I only had clothes for the baby. I spent the entire (6 hour) flight covered in poo. Nasty. The upside is traveling with a toddler in a diaper is sooooo much better than with a potty training kid.
On the plane, I'm all about snacks, snacks, snacks, and toys they've never seen before (I do new ones for each direction). Also iPad/digital whatever. But download before in case they don't have wifi on the plane.
We're flying from VA to Cali to visit my family. We only have one layover and it's an hour long.
Sometimes she's good about being worn. Other times not. I got her one of those backpack/leash harness thingies and was going to see if she would just walk like a big girl.
I plan on going to target to get goodies/toys for the plane. And I got a little kids tablet just for the plane that I'm going to download stuff on.
We have the rolley thing for our car seat too so she can ride in that if I decide to gate check it.

Perfect. I guess I'm just anti-stroller because my kids never really liked it. And I was always managing several kids at once. Sounds like it isn't bad with one. The wheelie thing for the car seat sounds perfect!
ourcrazynavylife +1 to the extra change of clothes for you too. On the way out, the lid on the bottle wasn't on tight enough and I got milk all over me and lo. We had a change for lo, but not for me so I had to sit in sticky milk pants. (Not as bad as poop though, kcrus!)
Cheap entertainment for the win: an empty oatmeal container with holes poked in the lid and pipe cleaners.
I'm so stuffed from dinner. I made pasties from scratch and used the leftover pie dough to make little cinnamon rollups. It takes me back to Sunday dinners at my grandparents. My Grammy always used to make the cinnamon rollups for us kids.

We found a spider in our bedroom. Leo fell asleep in the car and as DH was putting him to bed I saw something on the wall. I thought it was a cricket or some other bug. Dh killed it and said it was a spider. And just a couple nights ago dh said he thought he had a spider bite on his stomach and I didn't believe it. That sucker was huge. Now I'm in bed wondering if there are any more.
littlelion yuck! Creepy! I haaaaaate finding bugs in my room.
AFM, my long national nightmare of parenting solo EVERY EFFING WEEKEND is finally coming to an end. Just in time, too. I really almost lost my mind this weekend! He will still have to do call sometimes, but it won't be anything like it has been. I know I shouldn't complain- he has a job and I am able to stay home with my kids. But SHIT. It's miserable. We have had zero family time and doing homework was close to impossible!
