gratefulgirl how do you know when they need to drop a nap?
My kids don't usually show obvious (to me, I swear I am the worst at reading this stuff) signs, so I go by ages. At this point I'd say 3-4 naps. You'll know you need to drop to 3 if your kid seems to want to stay awake longer than an hour and a half in the mornings. Sometimes short naps are a sign of undertired and needing to drop a nap, but not always. For a lot of people sleep consolidates and they can't fit 4 naps in the day anymore. My kids have never done that. Early wake ups and diminishing night sleep are a sign I have seen older, but at this age it would be hard to tell if that was overtiredness or not.
If your kid is already on 3 naps I would not drop to 2 unless the third is consistently skipped. That transition is usually the 5-8 month range.
You can always try a new schedule for 3 days and stop if it isn't working.
Night two of my baby's awful cough and congestion. I feel so bad for her and also for myself lol. Sleep is a distant mirage...
We've been there too. It's so hard to listen to and every time she finishes a coughing fit she lets out a little relieved sigh that makes me feel worse. The doctor said it is normally a week long thing, days 4-5 being the worst of it.
I don't know what you've tried or if you're looking for suggestions, but we have a cool mist humidifier going in her room. We put towels under the crib mattress to elevate and put some Zarbee's baby chest rub on the chest of her sleep sack and on the sheet next to her head. I don't know if any of it is helping, but it makes me feel better.
Shoot. I was pumping in the dark and didn't realize I had overflowed the bottle. Felt wet on my leg, turned the light on and there is a giant puddle of breastmilk on the floor. Cleaning the floor is not what I wanted to be doing at 4:30am.
People with oversupply - what do you do about the constant milk everywhere?? It's disgusting. I leak in the bed every night. I leak on my clothes during feedings. I spray all over the place when the babies pull off. And I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the pump off and my shirt back on without dripping/spraying everywhere. I feel like everything I own is covered in sour milk. I wear breast pads at all times but they shift or get full and I end up leaking anyway.
bocaburger, I'm with you on the overflowing bottles (at least when I'm not sick, I am). It usually happens between the 12 and 14 minute mark for me, yet I still forget and end up soaked. It was brutal when my washing machine was broken.
I've tried a ton of pads and the only ones I find work the majority of the time are the lansinoh ones with the blue square in the middle. I use those and sleep in the genie bras from the infomercials and the pads usually stay put. I bought the bras at bed, bath, and beyond and they're my favorite ones to sleep in while nursing.
When I'm feeding him I keep the pad in my hand for when he pulls off. Lately he thinks it's fun to pull off and smile at me. It's cute, but milk everywhere!
