I tried to go to bed. DD ate at 9:30 and pooped right after. We changed her and put her in her crib, I got in bed, and she was super fussy. I got back up and here I am giving Ms Piggy another bottle already. I expect we'll have a good weight gain at the pedi on Friday

Do you guys think sleep associations are made this young? He woke stirring and rooting after an hour and part of me thinks there's no way he's hungry. That he just associates oh shit I'm awake I need/get food now.
I tried to give the pacifier and it worked for like ten minutes but then he got pissed. So I gave in and nursed. I'm not sure, I want him to be able to wake and self soothe back to sleep but everything I'm reading online talks about that at around 4 months of age. Nothing for newborn, so maybe at this age he really just is extra hungry?

I have always heard/read 13 weeks for sleep associations, but I think that some sort of loose associations start earlier. My big kids seemed like paci addicts (or in DD1's case, being held to sleep addicts) long before then.
I found with DD2 I was able to teach sleep from drowsy, but with her paci, between 8 & 12 weeks. I keep giving DD3 chances to self-soothe without too much crying, but so far she can't. They are still pretty little and their bodies are just regulating. The book Bedtiming suggest that you have a good chance of gently teaching self soothing between 2 & 4 months as long as you keep crying to under 5 minutes.
4 months is big because of changes in the brain and sleep cycle. I know each pediatrician varies, but mine encourages sleep training if needed and desired by the family starting after 4 months.

Id say if he isn't satisfied with the paci that he is hungry. They won't be able to self-soothe till at least 4 months. We didn't sleep train DD until she was like 5 months.
I'm still awake (almost midnight here). I'm not really tired and I'm bored. I've been doing squats and nipple stimulation with no luck. I think baby has dropped because my belly looks low. I decided to dance to Star's "Baby Mama". m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y07i5ctc_n8
DD seems to eat around 530 most mornings, and just after I am falling back asleep after feeding and changing her, the big kids come in and want their breakfast. So I am basically up for the day at 530 every morning

This is about where we're at, too. Not a fan.
I might just have to start asking them to get DH up instead. I know he would be happy to get up with them if asked, but default parent syndrome is strong

LO wakes up at 530 also. I don't have bigs though so I can nap until 830ish-9 before he wants to move on to daytime activities. I would not be able to function with a 5am wake up. Especially with big kids. I'd be a grumpy mess.
The baby doesn't wake up until about 9 most days. She enjoys a proper lie-in.
LO just pooped so loud it woke me up. So I did the right thing and changed him even though he slept through it. I finish, but go back to rub more coconut oil on his butt, and he fucking pees. Because of course. My bed is wet. My pillow is wet. He got his hair (again). My room is never gonna not smell like pee.
I woke him up while I was freaking out about the pee so I tried to feed him (its been 2.5hrs) and he refused and went back to sleep. Oh heaven forbid I ruin your schedule kid 😒 So if he stays on his normal wake up time, he will be hungry in 45min. I should just stay awake.
ugh hate that. I've gotten pretty good at holding the diaper away from his skin but still on to catch the pee. But there's definitely those times he waits 2 minutes until I'm mid butt wipe. Sucks.
It's 9:30am but it feels like the MOTN! Babies must be going through a growth spurt because they ate like every hour last night. Fortunately H handled most of the feedings but I was still up a bunch. And now they are off schedule and I can't get them to feed together.
I am totally exhausted from the past few days. DD hasn't been giving me longer stretches anymore. 😕
DH is sleeping on the couch and I'm sleeping better alone. But I feel like I need to go check on him downstairs and he will probably come up. I just want some good sleep.
DD was sleeping awesome after her 6:30pm bottle. Of course when she went to her crib after her 9:30 bottle she was a fussy mess. I do not have high hopes for when I put her down in a few min. She is squirming like crazy in my lap.
Well tonight is another version of hell. Baby b won't settle like at all has been up since 9 fussing I fed him changed him gave him gas drops nothing it's now almost 1 am this is horrible baby a will be awake soon I wonder how little sleep I can survive on tomorrow and take care of the toddler ugh
When are you going back to work? I feel like K was just born yesterday.
I'm technically on maternity leave, but I'm attending parent orientation and since K came earlier than expected my classroom wasn't ready since i had to wait for the new carpet to be installed to go in. So I have about two hours of work to get done in there. My H and my assistant teacher are going to help with that tomorrow.
DD was almost 6 weeks early so I never made it in to do my classroom. I wish I had been able to set everything up and do orientation but work told me not to worry. I'm sure my room will be a mess when I return in 2 weeks

DD3 did a nice 3 hour stretch after her 11 feed, but that feed was a mess. She was spitting up, screaming, back arching. At 3 she was fine. But now we are up again.
Lots of screaming since 3:30. She was spitting up and seemed uncomfortable. I tried everything to get her to sleep without nursing because she didn't need more milk. Finally I put her on the boob, and she instantly relaxed, closed her eyes, and went to sleep. Go figure.

kaitkat I constantly say that I have NO clue how anyone manages to do this with a toddler. Kudus to you and all second and third time moms. I'm one and done, could never imagine doing that lol
After the crappiest night Tuesday night, kiddo just slept from 11:20 PM to 6 AM!!!!!!!! I'm in total shock over here. Hoping that this isn't a fluke and that all the babies do the same thing. 😱😱😱😱

We had a similar stretch!! I got freaked out and woke her to feed her at the 5 hour mark - she went right back out and slept for another 4 hours. We have a weight check in a few hours so I'll see what they say about letting her sleep.

DD3 had a great first half of the night, then tried to snack nurse and cat nap all second half. But we had fewer settling problems than usual. Looks like I'll lay off caffeine a bit longer. Blargh.
Always. I keep a stash of almonds and granola bars next to my feeding chair. Otherwise I'd probably start gnawing on my arm.
For me, it's trail mix. I get the TJ's one that's almonds, pistachios, dried cherries, craisins and chocolate chips. Except one night I dropped a choc chip on C and didn't realize it until morning when she had melted chocolate mashed into her sleeper. Fortunately it was a preemie size and we didn't need to save it
