TL;DR: Al.ice Ro.se born via C-section on 8/17/16
I'm writing this in the middle of the night as MH helped put DD daughter down for the night. I can't sleep so I thought I would write this. There will be grammar errors and stuff missing, sorry in advance.
We arrived to the hospital around 8am, they checked us into the preop area and I got to wear one of those fancy warming gowns. They got my IV going, I met with the anesthesiologist and then after a little bit the nurse walked me to the OR.
The spinal was crazy. A resident did it along with an intern and attending. The resident was the sweetest kid (he had to be like 12 lol). He thanked me for my patience during the spinal, it took about 45 minutes. After the spinal was done I laid back down. The resident was wiping something cold on my head to see if I felt sensation and it felt so good on my forehead I asked him to keep doing it because I knew I was going to get nauseous. He kept giving me Zofran in my IV which helped but I didn't want to throw up on the poor kid. Next thing I know, they bring MH in and they started.
The one thing I remember was smelling something burning and I knew the incision was made. After a while I heard "uterus" and I freaked out because I thought they found something wrong. The anesthesiologist told me no, they were opening it, as soon as he said that, I heard her cry. I lost it, I was in tears. Every shot, ultrasound, bloodwork, egg retrieval, frustration, heartache all came down to this moment and it was the best thing in the world.
After they cleaned her up, they brought her to me, I couldn't hold her so the nurse told me to kiss her, I did, looked at her and she looked exactly like MH. She started crying so the nurse gave her to MH and he started crying, but she stopped. At that moment I knew she was daddy's girl.
They took DD from MH and put her on the warmer, they took MH out of the OR and finished stitching me up which I got to watch via a reflection from a cabinet. The anesthesiologist was like "you're nuts". When they were done they gave me DD for skin the skin and wheeled me back to the PACU. MH was there with a nurse who had a bottle of formula ready to go so MH gave her her first bottle and she sucked it down. I got to rest for a while holding her. They took her vitals and her temperature was low so they brought a warmer for her. I was so scared but I couldn't move. She warmed up after a few minutes and they brought us upstairs.
I felt so bad about how I thought my hospital stay was going to go because the care I received was absolutely amazing. Every nurse I had was the best and at the end of the last shifts I had with them, they would bring tons of extra stuff for me and DD (I was obsessed with the boy short underware) and give me a big hug. I had a hard time leaving just because everyone was so nice!
And here are some pictures, PDNQ, I'll try to stay active on here but this little girl is eating all the formula lately so we'll see. I'm still lurking and LTing!
