The length of time caffeine stays in the newborn system is 3-4 days. Today is day 4 with no coffee. If DD3 doesn't magically sleep today, back to coffee tomorrow darn it.

3 to 4 days?! Wow I didn't know that. I wonder if I'm affecting my baby - I drink a lot of coffee lately.
So exhausted today. I was really tired yesterday and then didn't get to bed until 1 am, and DD3 was up a lot last night.
DH should be discharged around lunch today, so that's good. I know the next few days will be rough because he won't be able to help at all, so I'm ready just to power through and get everything back to normal. At least he'll owe me a nice break once he recovers! 😊
I am torn between hoping she sleeps for you and hoping she doesn't (so you can still have coffee)
Funny! She won't; she is so gassy.
I do have to wonder what I do to my poor kids' digestion. It is almost enough to make me go to a ped GI or try one of those super strict elimination diets. I mean - it seems like everyone else's kid sleeps through the gas so why are mine so affected?
Morning! We are going home today! DD is borderline jaundice so this was up in the air until a few minutes ago. I can't believe I have a daughter. It feels so weird to use feminine pronouns.
C stuck her feet in one of hers when she was about 6 hours old. It was all over her, me, her hospital bracelet and the baby lo jack tag. I felt very #new
A few times this morning C has had isolated bouts of rapid trembling. Once it was one leg, once it was both arms, and once it was her chin, as if her teeth were chattering. I'm not going to google, and it's probably just an immature nervous system thing, but has anyone else's baby done this?

C does this all the time with her chin & I also assumed immature nervous system

DD3 did it in the hospital and they said immature nervous system.

Hey guys!
We had a decent night over here. DS went down around 10:30-1:45, and I managed to sleep for 2 of those hours, then he was up every 2.5 hours, but in total I got at least 6 hours of sleep - the most since we were in the hospital (and he spent most of the night in the nursery). Aftee we were all up, he kindly gave us a 3 hour nap so I had time for a quick shower, breakfast, coffee, and some cleaning.
My sister is on her way up for a visit today, so as soon as he's done nursing I'm actually going to put a onesie on this kid - he spends about 90% of the time just in a diaper because we don't have air conditioning in our living room. I'm excited for it to get cooler out so that I can see him in outfits more often!

Happened with ds1 and currently with ds2. Mostly his foot - reminds me of a little rabbit bouncing its foot!

Ds's legs do this occasionally still.
2 month check up was yesterday. He gained a total of 5 lbs since birth! He's a chunky monkey and hitting many 2 month milestones already. The pedi was thrilled with his progress. Poor guy also got 2 shots. We're doing all the cuddling today while he sleeps and fusses.
When a baby spits up the entire contents of their stomach, how soon do you feed them again?
Usually by the time he stops screaming because I changed him, he's hungry again. So I just pop him right back on. Not sure if that's the right thing to do or not though.
Mine also has blonde eyelashes. And his eyebrows are finally starting to come in. I think B had darker eyelashes and brows and thought maybe DS doesn't because he came a couple weeks early.
Holy shit these breastfeeding contractions. They are so much worse than I remember. Did anyone get anything stronger than motrin?
I had percocets but had a csection and i stopped taking them when I got home and stuck to Motrin. I didn't like the way they made me feel
They were definitely wayyy worse this time around for me. I had to keep telling myself "it's making my belly shrink" over and over again in my head and I don't think that even helped.... Fingers crossed they stop for you soon!!

penny2103 my first nurse told me the "secret" if I said my pain was a 1-3 I got Tylenol, 4-6 got Motrin, and 7-10 got me Percocet. Basically they couldn't ask me what pain medication I wanted, but they could follow the numerical guidelines they had. I ended up sticking with Motrin because I know Percocet makes me loopy, but the contractions were way worse than I remember from DS.
My babies have no eyebrows still lol and dark lashes but barely any! The bigger baby has a full head of hair poor smaller little man has hardly any! (He looks so much like my DD it's crazy)
