We're headed to the better part of NY on Wednesday to visit family for the long weekend. I'm hoping we get a break from the crazy heat we've had here in VA!
The interview went well. I will hear back in a week, but I need to decide if I want the job if it is offered. The pay would be about the same as I make now, but a lot more responsibility. Right now I am a kitchen counter clerk at a Grocery store, with a steady 5 am to 1 pm shift. But if I take the new gig, I can wear what I want. Childcare may pose an issue depending on what dh ends up doing for a job. (He has been unemployed or underemployed the last 2 years). I don't know how soon I could move up at my current job, I had a management position before and stepped down due to the stress and poor upper management. I would have to learn a lot for the new job and it would be a challenge, but Business operation manager sounds a lot better than kitchen counter clerk. Oy....

What does your gut tell you?
It's a tough decision, that's for sure. In my unsolicited opinion, I would think about carrier mobility for both positions and use that to help weigh your decision. Also, whether you see yourself at your current job for a while more or if you can see yourself potentially going and staying at the new job. Honestly, though, not having the "it's a good pay jump" benefit could help you make an unbiased decision.
I can definitely relate and sympathize. I switched positions last month myself.. I had only been in my prior position for 8-9 months when this new one popped up. The pay is comparable to what I was making, benefits are the same, I just would have a different career path and more mobility. It came down to what did I want to do with my life, what position and management group would help and support me with going for my career goals, and what my gut feeling was on the situation. The jump in pay actually helped with my decision because I was able to go with my gut instead of focusing on the money or benefits to make the decision.
