AW/Vents/ Encounters this week: SMIL keeps saying how blessed she is that we gave her a grandchild.....I really could care about the blessed part but I hate how she makes it seem like we had a child just for her. Not that we went through years of trying and such to have our own child...
QOTW: I couldn't come up with a good question this week...so what is one thing that makes you happy?
My son. He will be our one and only. Kind of sad he will be our only one but really happy we have one! Otherwise playing instruments, coloring, and extra money(lol).
I am going back to school (to be a primary school teacher) and in the introduction week we had a talk about denominational certificate. At my school you can get a protestant Christian or a public/secular certificate. It was not too long ago that teachers were happily mixed, like you could be an atheist, work at a school with a protestant or catholic background and be fine as long as you weren't being an asshole about it. It seems to be going another direction. Getting the christian certificate requires reflecting on yourself as an 'identity bearer' (probably not a word, literal translation from Dutch). So if you don't identify as a christian, you should have no business at a christian school. And the public certificate requires you to reflect upon the exemplifying the values of public education, including being actively neutral and inclusive of all religions. My choice was easily made. DNW to be at any place that would require active Christianity of me. As always, i was surprised by the number of people who identify enough as christians to consider that certificate if only for reasons of job opportunities. / end of rambling
This week my husband's aunt bought my son (2.5) a book, "goodnight farm" or something like that. The last page is all about "good night God." She's very kind and knows I'm an atheist, so her face when she got to that page was hilarious. She obviously bought it before reading through the whole thing. We had a good laugh about it. I don't really care.
QOTW: @alyllyra, wild harvesting makes me happy too!
