We just got a package delivered with two adorable baby outfits in it - but there's no card or packing slip. I'm not sure how to figure out who sent it...
Also, night sweats - I got them WAY worse with DS. I keep waiting for them to ramp up, but I guess at 2 weeks pp it may not happen?
Question about the ergo carrier if anyone knows. The website says to use the infant insert for babies 7-12 pounds and the carrier is ok for 12-45 pounds. Is there also an age where they fit better without the infant insert (like head control or something), or anything I need to look out for? DD3 is 11+ pounds and I would like to use it soon but really don't want to mess with the insert.
ETA: Nevermind, I found it in a different spot on the website. It says to use the insert through 4 months. Guess I should figure out my k'tan instead, DD3 hasn't been a fan so far.
Do babies just get used to lots of noise? Like 2 year old level noise? There has been no napping from the time the toddler gets home.
Yes at some point. I'm all about sound machines and dark rooms for naptime though. And swaddles because 2 year olds like to trigger that startle reflex
So this is kind of funny. I guess I call DD honey a lot, because she thinks it's a word that's just part of sentences. Tonight as we left the park, she threw a major fit and was yelling "another park honey!" And now she's in her bed whining "Mommy pick up Anna honey." Lol

Anyone dealing with or dealt with jaundice? DD had a mild case and we just put her near a window and supplemented a little bit. With DS now, we're doing the bili lights and daily blood draws. It hurts my heart to have them prick his heel and milk blood out. His bili levels haven't come down in the past 2 days

We did lights and pricks for DD2. I also had to supplement her. It was rough, but we were grateful for modern medicine keeping it from being worse.

Our pedi hasn't said to supplement but I'm thinking about doing it. My milk has come in and he eats a lot but He's not pooping very much
penny2103 DS sleeps through DD's screaming, except when she runs into the nursery and goes up to the crib to touch him, sigh. She did that several times today.
ameliabird his levels didn't get high enough for light therapy, but DS did get out on formula supplement to try to flush out the bilirubin. I hope that your baby's levels come down soon!

We had to stay an extra night in the hospital for DS. He had to be naked under the lights for 24 hours. Thankfully, DD's levels weren't high enough this time. At her 5 day checkup they did the heel prick because her color was worse. They mentioned going back to the hospital. One thing to keep in mind is that the bilirubin levels actually peak around day 5. For example, DD was at a 10 on day 2 but an 18 on day 5. Her jaundice was getting better but the level was higher. Does that make sense?

Ya his color looks better today but his levels are the same. They came down .1 today so hopefully that means it's peaked and on its way down
Ughhh my DD's feet were so gross from being pricked so much in the NICU. She had a day under the lights. We were discharged and her number went up at the pedi follow up. The pedi said it was normal to peak before going down and thankfully it did at her next appt at 1 week old.

This was us for DD1, too. Honestly not much changed until we started supplementing, in our case (but I also have supply problems). Good luck--those daily heel pricks are awful, combined with PP hormones.

I started using the Ergo with ds1 around 12 lbs, which was maybe 3 months? I never had the infant insert. I rolled up a receiving blanket and stuck it under his butt to boost him up a bit. He was hurting my back in the Boba wrap and I thought the Ergo was fine.
I have a strange baby... she got grumpy about the pku heel pricks in the hospital, but she was asleep by the end of it and napped well enough that I even got a nap from it. Like.... who does that?!
I am staring down 2 sets of poopy diapers as soon as these two wake up from naptime. I... am not quite certain where to start. Also, I forgot how teenytiny newborn sized everything is, I feel so clumsy with DD2!
Oh... and baby asleep on me, toddler beside me on the couch... it is a genuine tear jerking slice of mommy heaven. Stitches and everything else be damned, I got my babies.

This is just so nice and so true! Perfect to remember during the more harrowing moments of the day.

We never used the infant insert with DD #1. We rolled up a blanket and put it under her but she was big enough not to need much. There are a bunch of YouTube videos that will give you some tips.

My neighbor brought us dinner. It included a plate of perfectly undercooked cookies. They reminded me of why I love my husband: he put the plate out of eye sight from our kids so we didn't have to share the cookies with them:)

Thanks for the input guys. We're really kicking ourselves about leaving the hospital a day early. They could have treated him with the lights there and it might have been much better. We also didn't get his circ done because the Pedi who did it in the hospital wasn't there and we'd have to stay another day. We decided to get it done at his office instead but now we have to wait for a referral from my Dr. Ugh!
