I thought we could have a place to chat about the weird things that happen after giving birth, vent about our bodies, and share strategies for getting back to normal.

Me, I'm dealing with sciatica. Not fun. Already had our regular masseuse come over and try to help, but so far the only thing that does is ibuprofen. Tomorrow is my first day with both kids on my own and it's seriously difficult to keep up with DS when I'm limping around and having a hard time even sitting or getting up from sitting position.

coffeequeen14 yes- the frigen boobs! All pregnancy I couldn't wait to stomach sleep and now that's out of the question.
Had my 6 week check up and green light. Tried very slow, cautious sex for the first time. Not good. I had to stop it after like 2 min because it burned. Don't know if my pH levels are weird or something but we're gunna try again in a week.

I'm nervous about this. I have 2 weeks until my 6 week pp check. DH and I haven't had sex in... months. I want the green light, but I'm also kind of scared for it?

yea we didn't do it the last few months of pregnancy either... I have no sex drive so I joked with H that "doctor says 6 more weeks" lol

I've been having weird allergic reactions since delivery. I reacted badly to the epidural rape and to the ultrasound gel from constant monitoring of baby girl. So now I washed those undies they give at the hospital and might be reacting to them. Anyone else having rash issues? I found via Google that it can be hormonal
Me (30) MH (32) Dx: MFI (low all the things) M. 10/11. TTC Since 01/14 IUI#1-3(Letrozole + Trigger) = BFN Second Opinion. Changed RE's. IVF 09/15 Long Lupron 12R/9M/8F, Transferred 1=BFN. 4 frosties. FET #1 12/15 Transferred 1 (3 still on ice)
I thought i would also put this here for informational purposes! I got AF this week and boy is it heavy. I was warned it would be but i was not prepared for just how much. I am changing a pad about every 2 hours so i don't soak through. (I would have heavy ones before pregnancy so extra heavy for pp is brutal)

Re: stomach sleep - when people say it is what they want to do after delivery I always think about warning them, but then I figure they might be different.
I find toward the end of the first year when solids are firmly a part of our meal plan then my boobs are back to near normal.
I'm legitimately concerned about the stitches I got post-birth. I have a second degree tear. I don't know if I'm cleaning well after going to the bathroom and oy - sitting on a pad all day hurts. I have Tucks, I have those ice pack/pad combos (AMAZING) from the hospital, but I'm still worried I'll have to go the OB due to an infection. Ooph.
On the bright side, I can see around my belly again. I can groom again. I can eat again. I can shave my legs again. I'm not sure I can convey how freaking happy I am with feeling like myself.
I am still sore, especially if I sit down wrong. I had a second degree tear but the pain is mostly in the front, not where the stitches are. And TMI, the hemorrhoids don't seems to be improving. The idea of sex is still kind of scary for me at this point.
I have been able to sleep on my stomach though which has been nice. The thing that I wasn't prepared for was how tired I get standing/walking around because my ab muscles are so stretched out and therefore not very effective.
Breastfeeding hormones will cause vaginal dryness. Plus, you just squeezed an entire human through the area. Good lube, and plenty of it, is a must for PP sex
At my 2wk checkup she told us we'd talk about BC at the 8 wk but if we had sex before then, use a condom. She asked if I was exclusively breastfeeding, I said yes, and she said that the chances of me getting pregnant right now were pretty low. DH took that all as "go buy condoms right now" hahaha. We've had sex twice since then. At first, it was more painful than I'd expect since I had a CS.

Man i haven't stopped bleeding yet! Went straight from pp bleeding to AF bleeding. I had a CS too. Lucky you!

joy oh no hope you don't have an infection. I also got 15 stitches and felt like it took forever to heal. I'd have days 3 weeks in with still pain and heavy bleeding. Good luck!

The PP hair loss is insane. I have tons of easily breakable, fine hair. Ugh.
The night sweats did not happen last night. Score!
Also: my varicosities are gone! My spider veins are faded to a light bruise that won't keep me from shorts. I love my ankles again because they aren't swollen.
The abs are going to take exercise and surgery (at least hernia repair and maybe a tummy tuck, though my OB swears they aren't separated and she has cut through them so I guess she knows) to fix. I will address that when we have a rhythm going.
I bled way longer than I thought I would post c section. I'm four weeks out on friday and it's just tapering off.
Also hemorrhoids seriously did not expect them post c section or all the bleeding from them! Thankfully they are starting to go away.
Also my gut from the c section is so much different than from my vaginal delivery it may be the twins to but damn I need to hit the gym if I'm ever going to look normal again

I feel pretty good in general and my bleeding is very light (2.5 weeks PP) but lately I have felt some sort of sharp pains that I'm guessing are due to my episiotomy stitches dissolving. Like maybe without the support of the stitches, I can feel my own skin stretching a little bit more than before, and that can be uncomfortable?
I am SO nervous about having sex again. Assuming I get the all-clear at my 6 week appointment, I might plan for us to try when we're away for my SIL's wedding (that'll be 7 weeks PP). I'd like to have DS be able to take a bottle by then, so that way I can hopefully plan my pumping around a little drinking that night and I can get good and tipsy for the first sex attempt. I'm going to need all the help I can get.
I had two tears and am starting to feel like they will never heal. One was a second degree tear. The other was at my urethra. I didn't even know that could happen. Anyway, it still hurts to pee unless I use the squirt bottle with warm water. Anyone else have this kind of tear?
I'll start: how long does this acne last?? My face has looked sooo bad since I was in the hospital.
I had that too! Mine started the last few weeks of pregnancy, and started clearing up when LO was about four weeks old. Mine was more on my shoulders than my face though.

Wait, you had a baby?!? Woohooo! (Off to see what else I've missed this week)
Me, I'm dealing with sciatica. Not fun. Already had our regular masseuse come over and try to help, but so far the only thing that does is ibuprofen. I'm having some sciatica too which I totally didn't expect, I thought that was just a pregnancy thing and would go away after delivery.
kaitkat my belly skin is sooo stretched and wrinkly, and discolored from the stretch marks. It looks ridiculous.
It's crazy isn't it!!! I keep thinking yay I grew to babies but damn how am I ever gonna be back to before. I also didn't realize how much swelling I had either (my pre e hit hard this time, was still spilling protein 4 days pp)

I actually tore at my urethra too! I'm 4 weeks pp and it feels mostly better, but still sort of uncomfortable. I don't know how to describe it exactly, other than it doesn't feel the same as before

Oh dear!! It's the worst, right? I'm doing the recommended stretches but really think I'm going to end up at the chiropractor.
I can see lots of stitches talk, and not the good kind... but tell me, when does the hellish stinging-when-peeing stop? I am terrified I busted stitches or tore more or something just from sitting on these suckers yesterday and today. I had some time super early in the morning where it didn't hurt, but then it came back really bad. I can handle the general discomfort, swelling, aching... but lord that stinging makes me wanna crawl across the bathroom.
