We have this tropical storm coming in tonight, which is supposed to be a hurricane by the time it makes landfall last I heard. Everything is already so flooded. I'm just hoping we don't lose power!
Aren't you near Tampa? My grandparents are in that area and say it isn't to bad but they lost power and lots of lightning. Hope you stay safe and don't get flooding!

Yup, I'm just across the bay right near the gulf. We still have power but the flooding has been bad over here. And the lightning keeps waking up DD1 which is a giant pain.
Has anyone experienced this? DS was dead asleep and started crying his brains out but he was still asleep. I was right next to him and put my hand on his belly and said his name and he stopped. And resumed being asleep. He did it two more times and it freaked me out so I woke him up.
DD was known to cry her in sleep and DS is proving he does the same.

I can't search on Tapatalk but who here had their LOs stump fall off early?? The bili blanket thing knocked DS's stump off today and he's only 5 days old. I'm worried it's open to his intestines or he's going to get an infection. I'm so over the bili blanket. I just want to hold my baby without all the crap. I know others have it worse with premies but it makes me sad.
After spending the better part of the last 48 hours as a human pacifier, with the chapped nipple to prove it. I caved and gave DD a paci tonight. She's one week old and I feel both relived that my boobs have a break and guilty for not making it to the 4 week mark 'they' say to wait for. Hopefully I haven't messed up our BF relationship too much. I just needed to give my poor boobs a break (and I needed some sleep!)

Who are these mystical "they?" and who here has ever known a baby to confuse a pacifier with the breast? DD3 looks somewhere between insulted and enraged if I get mixed up and give her a paci when she wants boob.

For freaking serious. There's no confusion between the two here. LO looks at me like I'm the biggest asshole if I try to give him the pacifier to calm him down for a minute when he's hungry.
If anything your relationship will be better since your nips won't be so sore!

I don't really consider 5 days early. If it came off, it was ready. It will still be wet and may ooze a few days. Just check for foul odor, hot redness, typical signs of infection.
hannahbear did and maybe gratefulgirl? I've had it come off early in the past and they put silver nitrate on it. No harm, no foul. It's not a big deal to call and ask for them to look at it. If it is dry than I wouldn't worry about it.
Eta: I could be totally wrong and neither of them did but I was trying to be helpful off my sleep deprived brain.
@suesposa and kokopelli it's gooey but no sign of infection. The pedi said to call in the morning and let them know how it looks.
Try to leave it open to air and let it dry out. If it gets caught on the outfit it rips the scab off and you start all over. That is what happened to us hence the silver nitrate. That goo so stains too. I couldn't ever get it out. Hope it dries up quickly for yall!

DS's fell off at 6 days without any issues!
lennonkdc - I've used a pacifier with DS since he was in the hospital. He doesn't really seem to like it, but now I'm actively encouraging it because I'm also sick of being a human pacifier! But really, don't worry about her confusing the two.

So irritated at my H today. He's criticizing me so much and not being encouraging at all. I feel like he never points out the things I'm doing right, and is expecting me to have everything figured out at two weeks pp. I know it's because he's frustrated and stressed about his job situation - he took the written and physical tests for his dream job, and got an awesome final score, but hasn't been called in for an interview yet and is being very pessimistic.
Today I not only dropped DS off at school for the first time since DD arrived, I also took them both way across town for his ENT appt. The parking attendant at the doc's office made me cry, DD had a full blow out while I was bfing her and DS was screaming as the doc examined his ears, etc, etc. But his hearing is perfect and I learned a lot about how to wrangle them both. TRULY, truly my hat is off to moms of 2 or more who stay home with all the kids, every day. I'm in awe of your strength, patience and stamina.

frodabaggins Oh man, that sounds like a rough day!! I'm sorry your husband didn't acknowledge your accomplishments today. First outings with new babies are so unpredictable, and of course moreso with sibs; it deserves at least a little celebration! I hope your H is still well in the running for that job! It sounds like he ought to have a good shot at it. Maybe they're just slow to get through the hiring process??

lennonkdc I'm actually pissed off that all the google/ articles told me to wait 4 weeks on the pacifier. We waited and now he fucking sucks at it. He wants it, he likes it, but he cannot keep it in his miuth for more than ten seconds. He flails his head around and looses it and then gets upset and wants it. We have to keep giving it back to him or sit there holding it. I really believe if we had given it earlier we wouldn't have this issue.
frodabaggins I'm sorry about your husband. mine did the same without even realizing it. He kept making backhanded snide comments like "oh I guess I'll just clean this spit up you left on his face!". DS was facing the other direction and I couldn't see the spit up, I would never have left it on purpose. He did this a few times and finally I snapped and was like "I've had it up to here with you talking to me like you know everything and I'm just a fucking idiot". We both cried for like an hour because he felt so bad and kept apologizing. You should definitely say something about it.
ameliabird, my LO's stump fell off around a week. The nurse said it was fine since it was nice and dry. There was a bit of it left in and she actually told us we could gently remove it with a q tip. If it looks ok, I'd just keep an eye out for any signs of infection.
And I feel ya on the bili blanket. For some reason I thought it would be soft and blankety (maybe because they call it a blanket?!?), and I wasn't prepared for how cumbersome the cord would be. Fx you don't have to have it for long.

Thank you. I am really hoping tmrw is our last day with it. FXd!
So milk worries get to take a seat, as I seem to be filling right up. Kiddo got a real meal, except only for all of 5 minutes earlier. She sleeps so much, and I couldn't really keep her interested in staying awake to eat.
So... I handed her off to her dad and came to put DD1 to bed. I missed her window last night and it was hell. Tonight? Nailed it, she passed out in 5 minutes. I can keep dreaming that every night will be so straightforward, right?
Gonna try to feed the baby again, but if she is still just sleepy and resisting being awake, I will take my cue and go to bed, too. 100% would work for me. Our/her doctor appointment is in the morning, anyway.
spicysalmonroll I hear the wubbanub stays in LO's mouth pretty well.
My picky ass baby only likes mam paci's so no wubbanub for us unfortunately. I get to listen to him grunt and yell at his paci when it falls out before he's ready. I used to replace it but I didn't want him to get used to that either so I stopped. He never cries for it, just kinda grunts and "ahhh ah ah ah" at it. Weirdo.
yea we have like 3 kinds and the wubba is the only one he will take. He doesn't get the concept yet to hold onto the animal. I cracked up earlier because I had looked away for a few minutes and when I looked back he had lost the pacifier end and was completely sucking on the moose's ear haha
ameliabird LO's cord fell off and it was gooey for a while, so the ped used a tiny applicator to put a chemical (I guess it was silver nitrate? Can't remember) on the granuloma. It turned black and took a few days to form a scab, and then that was it - it dried up and Normal skin was underneath

spicysalmonroll - DD3 reminded me that my kids will also sometimes sleep cry if extra snuggly (like cuddling Mom) but also hungry. The struggle is real. Do I eat, or do I keep sleeping?

I'm thinking this might need to be done. This morning I looked at it and it seemed to have folded in on itself and closing but just now I looked I think I can see what looks like a granuloma. Planning to call the pedis office when they reopen from lunch.
