shannjohnston, do you have NB sized covers or just OS ones? DS doesn't fit into the OS yet, but he fits in NB at 9 lbs. I remember the CD-ing board mentioning most babies won't fit into a OS properly until around 12 lbs.
And last night I don't mind that he did. I was so tired. So he nursed until we both fell asleep.
We're almost done with our Pampers newborn stash. Tried out our cloth diapers last night - LO poosplosioned the first, and pee leaked through another. I need to go through the covers are adjust the sizing.
.
We had one poosplosion in our CDs so far. I found out at the next diaper change that it was because H had been putting the fitted diapers on backwards. No wonder he couldn't get a good fit
All of our covers are still big, even the newborn size, but they're functional. Actually, we're getting the best/trimester fit with Thirsties Size 1 covers.

I'm so glad you mentioned the sizing for OS diapers! Tried ours out for the first time and was frustrated because they seemed so bulky and too big on lo. Decided to wait until he's bigger to try again. (Back into disposables for now.) It helps to have a weight in mind for when we start with cloth again. Thanks!

Getting in some morning skin on skin time. This is my favorite thing about breast feeding. I just love how he feels laying on my chest after a good feeding. He's so cuddly. We were able to get one 3hr stretch last night. That may not seem like much but I'll take it. The past couple of days I've been lucky to get an hour and a half out of him. I really wish he would figure his days and nights out. That would help mommy out tremendously.
After a rough day yesterday we got some good sleep last night! Finishing up a feeding now and heading back to bed for a couple hours if he will let me. It's only 6:25 here and no need for me to be up this early!
Beau fit into his first cloth diaper!!! On another note, is it too late to go back to sleep? After driving on glare ice yesterday to be told DS2 might have mild to moderate hearing loss and they want to reevaluate and confirm in a month. I don't even want to get up to bring the older two to daycare. No ambition in this house.
Sleep away. I try to get B to sleep until 10 everyday. Some days it even works!
10?! You are superwoman! My other two decided to charge in and wake B and I up at 8.
Someone gave us a box of size 1 Pampers, so we're using those for DS2. I buy CVS diapers for DS1. I also have Huggies overnight diapers because they were having a huge sale a while back. I'm not too picky about diapers.
I just farted. DS1 looked at me, I said, "What was that?" and he said, "Baby brother toot." Ha ha, yes, we'll go with that.

So my 10 year old beagle was recently diagnosed with doggy alzheimers. (I think I mentioned it a few weeks ago on TB) anyway, because of this she no longer knows to go to the door to let us she has to potty. We let her out very frequently and Thankfully hasn't had accidents in the house. Last night my H didn't put her leash on and we woke up to urine that had blood in it! Thankfully she didn't pee on the carpet!! But thankful she went in the house, because we would have never known about blood in her urine!
Looks like a vet visit is in store for her later. Hopefully it's nothing serious, and something a little antibiotics can cure.

@happywigglecmb - they're OS, but they're not the traditional snap OS. It's a brand called SoftBums, and they use an elastic slidey thing for the leg openings. We used them with DS from the get-go, and that's more the problem - they're all still sized to fit him! I just need to resize them for a tiny person's bum.

Last night was rough. LO was awake from 1:30-4:30. Thankfully dh woke up around 4:15 and helped me put him to sleep. Then he woke up around 6 or 7 to eat. He's had really bad gas so I think that's the culprit. Poor little guy. I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary so I'm not sure what could've caused it.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about the possible hearing loss. why were they concerned about his hearing? Did he fail his newborn hearing test?
Beau is great! It's my Kayden, he's 20 months not talking and has recurrent ear infections even after his tubes.
DH came home last night in the middle lo's crying event. He took her and I went to take a shower. I came back down stairs and she was knocked out. I asked how he did that he replied oh she opened her eyes and smiled at me and went to sleep.

Well I'm very sorry! My oldest has failed hearing tests before, and has had ear tubes four times and his adenoids taken out. Before his last set if tubes, he completely failed a hearing test, he wasn't talking hardly at all (at age three, he rarely talked, at two, he could only say hi, mama and baby) but the last set of tubes looks like his last time! He still has excess fluid in his ears, but now we just have to use warm mineral oil and drop it in his ears to help. He's finally able to hear and finally talking nonstop! His ear doctor said his ear tubes are small and just starting to drain a little better. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they find out that it is nothing permanent for your son! Keep us updated
Oh goodness!! I'm hoping not. So far he says mom dad and that's about it that you can understand. There are a few words we ( H and I) know what he means only by him saying them and demonstrating what he means like dog but that's about it.
I hate the smell of pampers, I think they smell like old lady. I know itssupposed to be baby powder but I only associate that scent with old people. If people are leaking through I recommend sizing up, ds 1 kept leaking until I realized that nb diapers hold like one tiny bit of pee.

I never tried this, but I kept hearing that I should take my DS to the chiropractor and they could do something that supposedly works miracles and drains their ears. One of my cousins swears by it and avoided getting ear tubes for her child by taking him to the chiropractor. I just never tried it because my sons insurance didn't cover it, but I wanted to mention it just in case you wanted to try!
Thanks! It might be worth a shot although he already has his tubes.
Ugh, this kid is killing me at night. I don't know what's going on. He doesn't cry, he is just super fussy in his sleep. He doesn't do this during the day at all. He will make all sorts of noises, wriggle around. I check on him and he is asleep. He will fuss for 10-15 minutes and settle back down only to do it again in 30 mins or so. Its making it hard to get any sleep.

Currently using Huggies in the hospital. We have Pampers at home so we will see what we end up with.
I had a friend call me yesterday and she is coming up to the hospital after she gets off work and taking me out! Not sure what all we will do but I am looking forward to it.
My sister had an appointment yesterday. Cervix has soften, and she is dilated to a 2. Her doctor is estimating the baby weighs over 8lbs right now. My sister has said she doesn't care when her little man comes, as long as it's not Friday the 13th.

My sister was born on Friday the 13th!!!!! She's ok I guess
LO was super fussy at bedtime last night and after 2 days of growth spurt feedings I was exhausted. DH came into baby room and asked how things were going. I just said: "I have a headache and am exhausted" as she cried while I was trying to burp her. DH took her from me and told me to go to bed, within about 10 minutes he had gotten her to fall asleep. I am sooo thankful and she seems to be back to her routine and done with the growth spurt (THANK GOODNESS!).

We are moving LO into size 1 diapers today. We are almost out of newborn and he can't quite fit into our cloths yet. Let's hope they are able to contain everything. He's almost 5 weeks, but very long and lean. My little banana baby.

I've got S in the newborn size gdiapers and they fit him great and he isn't even 7 lb yet.
I have 4 little bears, just like my name says. 2 girls 2 boys ages 8,5,3, and my newest babe. 2 of my little bears have life threatening food allergies, feel free to ask me more about that!

I was hoping Thirsties XS would work for us; they're still too big for DS :/ Boo!

This is similar to us. DD get every gassy starting around 7pm. It usually takes a combination of upright bouncing and nursing to get her to calm down. She grunts and flails in the MOTN which sometimes wakes her up.
We've been trying an OTC colic product called Cocyntal the last few days. It seems to help, but only for a short period - enough to calm her and get her down. At her one month checkup yesterday, the Dr recommended if it keeps up to go to simethicone drops.
I follow this page called: "I f**cking love Science" on Facebook. (Side note: it is amazing, and funny and super interesting, but I digress...clearly I'm a nerd).
ANYWAY, I can't figure out how to post it here, but they shared this really powerful post from a mom of a two week old who was exposed to measles at the pediatrician's office (search Jennifer Hibben-White on Facebook to find it). My son is only a few days older than hers and her post really hit home (and honestly terrified me, the only place I've taken L out is the ped). She writes not only as a mother whose infant was exposed to measles, but as a mother who lost another child to an unnamed illness. I am not looking to start any debates here, just wanted to share with everyone because I thought the post was very well-written, eloquent and personally captures how the current outbreak makes me feel.
