Can anyone recommend formula for gassy babies? We are on good start probiotic but they are still soo gassy
Ds2 was so so so gassy. We had a sample of Similac sensitive and it seemed to stop it pretty much completely! Target has a generic version of it that I bought now. He also went from mucousy poop to normal looking poop. I'm going to ask the dr about it since he is also really colicky, to rule out anything else, but the formula seemed to help the gassy part.
So I have a roundtable today with 3 LC's and their on staff NP. I called to make an appointment and I cried out of frustration. The Magic words for these ppl must be "I'm ready to quit."
I was immediately put on hold while she gathered her comrades and they are even coming to the house. While this solution works for me, because I was saying I want to quit if we can't make this better, it sucks for other women who want to quit and want to know how to safely wean. This group is very "formula=evil" so I oftentimes wonder who advocates for those who are truly done. They will lie and shame you into keeping it up.
That's a mission for another day though. Today is about getting a plan in place for me.
If you want an advocate for those who are truly done, check out The Momivist on Facebook.
But first, if you want a plan for you that involves BF-ing, I hope today brings that plan. But if it doesn't, there are people out there.
Anyone else having any pelvic pain now, or did any you were experiencing go away after birth? Walking and everything is fine, but laying down (sleeping) causes severe pain when I try to get back up.

@suesposa I hope you get some useful help from the LCs! I find it completely frustrating to get opposite advice from various LCs & pediatricians. Shouldn't there be some sort of consensus based on science? Meanwhile you're just trying to feed your kid....
It's a good soapbox. As someone who's had legit supply problems and been reluctantly very, very grateful for formula as a result, I've been on the receiving end of that guilt, and it suuuuuuucks.

This is how the allergy world is, too. Nobody can agree.

I have been SO surprised by the lack of consensus or even evidence.
Ugh. I feel the same way as you about BFing @suesposa - if it works, awesome - if/when it no longer works for me and my lifestyle, I am fine with formula.
I had to supplement with formula until my milk came in and even though I was at an excellent hospital, I got conflicting advice from the NICU nurses, maternity nurses, and LC's. The NICU nurses were very pro-supplementation for as long as needed, so I got totally on board with that plan... Until the LC made me feel like I needed to get DS off the bottle and formula ASAP otherwise we were going to have major problems breastfeeding. She told me to try exclusively BFing and to only supplement if the pedi told us to after our first appt. I actually didn't have a concrete plan in place until we met with the pediatrician right before being discharged. It was super frustrating to get so many different opinions even before I left the hospital.

I have had luck with previous babies on Similac sensitive and the target generic of it. We are stuck on neosure for a few more months so from one gassy mom to another hope you find some relief!

We are on Neosure too. We tried switching DD to level 1 nipples but she was SO gassy and spitting up. We are back on preemie nipples and it's better but she takes her sweet time feeding now lol

Dd2 is 5 1/2 weeks and I finally had to admit this weekend that the newborn clothes are for sure too small. We are for sure done--3 kids is enough for us and I'm too old to do this again, but still having some sads.

I delivered at a "baby friendly" hospital. They actually made me sign a form acknowledging "breast is best." I've been able to BF without major issue thus far for all three kids but found it offensive. Also, wtf would happen if i refused to sign? You think they'd refuse services?

Tit for commiseration. I had DD in a newborn outfit today. She couldn't straighten her legs. I'm very sad my baby is no longer in newborn:(

I probably would have marked out the word "breast" and written in "fed" then signed that. Of course I prefer to not starve a newborn, but that's just me, I'm not a doctor, or funeral director.

We went to brunch yesterday to a restaurant that had a fantastic Bloody Mary flight. I've been wanting to try it for nine months so I ordered it. Unfortunately I could only finish half of it. No one with me wanted to share the rest so I emptied water from S2s water bottle, removed the straw to prevent accidental ingestion, and brought home a roadie i am now finishing:) i felt very scandalous.

@suesposa the other thing that drives me nuts is that in the 80s when my brothers and I were born, my mom told me that the whole "YOU MUST BREASTFEED" thing didn't exist. She breastfed each of us for 2-3 months, however long she could make it work, and then switched to formula. We had no developmental issues and while none of us are Mark Zuckerberg or Malala, my brothers work the following jobs: translator/linguist, assistant deputy prosecutor of a large County that a large city is in, and environmental engineer. I'm a composer and musician. We are all successful and grounded with spouses and families. Yet according to the new logic my mom did the worst thing in the world giving us formula???!
And evening! DD was a fussy mess earlier in the evening so when she finally fell asleep around 8:30 we put her down in the Boppy lounger in the living room without thinking about the time. Now I want to go to bed but she's still sound asleep and there's no way I'm moving her and waking her. So I am watching a rerun of Chopped and working on my to do list for my last week of maternity leave this week
