No traditions. In-laws are coming today for afternoon and dinner so I'm just taking a break from cleaning. Tomorrow we might go for a hike. That's about it!
Edit: And yesterday we had an impromptu visit from good friends and their 1.5 year old so that was good! Boy is the 1.5 year old busy, I saw a glimpse of the future and baby-proofing.
No big plans or traditions that's we've continued over here. Besides CET having a migraine all weekend, it's been nice. I snuck out yesterday to study at a coffee shop for 45 minutes and it felt so luxurious.
bexincanada, We keep a fairly tidy house but I know the cleaning before guests come over well. What did you make?

cetcar We had salmon, salad, corn on the cob, and a sweet potato/chickpea curried stew. Add in the dessert, cheeses beforehand and you end up with the reason kitchen cleaning and dishes were in two stages (last night and this am)... it was delicious though and there are leftovers for tonight.

There is a international food street fair here every Labor Day weekend. It's been going on for literally over 100 years! It's been a family tradition to go every year since before I was born. We were super stoked about being back in town for it and had a blast there yesterday. Today we did absolutely nothing and it was amazing.

We went to Colorado for the weekend. My sister was able to come. It was fun, but a lot of driving to show her sites, when usually we just chill with the in-laws. We spent waaaay too much money this weekend too, oh well, it happens.
I made the last payment to my orthodontist on Friday. So that's an extra $400 a month. I just wish my braces were off.
My stepmom and dad bought us our crib this weekend, it should arrive on Thursday. I'm super surprised and excited. It was a bit expensive so i didn't expect anyone to buy it.
September is really busy for me, it'll be over before I know it.
In Denver my sister and I saw comedian Pete Davidson from SNL and the movie Trainwreck. I haven't laughed that hard in a loooooooong time. It was so fun.
We finally finished OITNB. Every other season, we have plowed through them. This season, we were so busy it took forever. Got an estimate on new windows. Holy.Hell. We went to a paint and drink thing and then dinner/shopping with some new friends. That was fun. We went to church for the first time since the beginning of summer. We decided at 3:30 on Sunday to start painting our door and putting all new hardware on it (that involved 3 trips to Home Depot and 3 hrs of work. But the door looks amazing and how we have an electronic keypad.) We met up with friends we haven't seen in forever. L rearranged our pantry (a local grocery store is going out of business and all non-perishables are 30% off (plus regular sales.) We loaded up, but then needed a place to put everything. I took the kids to lunch with our friend and then to their place for one last swim of the summer. Came home and made the kids' lunches for the entire week, prepped food for the week, finally figured out the new electronic keypad app, and crashed.
