Baby gates- top of stairs

So I have used several types of baby gates, but have never had to deal with a baby gate for the top of stairs.. (We have a door to our basement that we keep closed). My parents will be moving to a new house with open stairs to their basement, and will want to use a baby gate when we go over. Do any of you use a baby gate at the top of stairs? what do you use?

No, but I'm following. When we convert to a toddler bed, we will need one so she can't go downstairs when she gets up.

The Kidco Angle Mount Safeway has been ours. We have metal banisters, so DH u-bolted two oak boards to them, one on each side. Then he installed the gate on the boards. Very solid - DD2 steps on the bottom and it doesn't move.

The gate is great, but for some reason most visiting adults can't seem to figure out the very intuitive open mechanism. Drives us crazy.

If you have banisters, this is the one we have and we really like it -
