DD does this every so often so I just go with it because it is so much easier getting her back to sleep if I just feed her after waiting a few minutes to see if she will go back to sleep than it is if I don't feed her and try to get her back to sleep. The fact that she doesn't do it all the time to me makes me think she is in a growth spur when she does it and when she is over it she stops doing it. So it isn't like we are building a pattern that will need to broken at some point.
I am hoping this is all related to a growth spurt. My pedi said at our 9 month appt that we should not be upping her formula intake at all at this point, but making up the difference with food. Not sure how to go about doing this. On a good day, she only eats a jar/pouch of food per meal time. Sometimes it's less than a full jar/pouch. Our pedi also said we should be working toward three "meal times" where we give solids and a bottle at the same time rather than spacing them out. Ugh...I feel like no matter what I do, I'm doing it wrong!
Oh wow! I am apparently doing it all wrong too! We don't have our 9 month appointment until the 3rd. I am interested in what our pedi will say!

My pedi said this too and it kind of threw me off. She said she should be having the three main meals and working towards having her table food be the only food, which I get that she should be there by 12 months but I was shocked that at 9 months she should be on the 3 meals a day schedule. it was talked about in another thread (maybe? cant remember which one) but my pedi also said that its time to wean her off of MOTN feedings if she wakes for them and suggested sleep training. I'm sure I need to do it but I have such mixed feelings, I know she can sleep all night and has done it many times before but I also think she may truly be hungry in MOTN since she will not calm until I feed her. I know I have to sleep train her at some point but have no energy to do it now with all the crap sleep we are both getting. I'm constantly feeling behind or that I'm not doing it right. I hate it!
emmygirl12345 My DD still eats at different points in the night and always seems genuinely hungry. She eats quickly and goes right back to sleep. If you are not ok with sleep training then hopefully this can make you feel better. My friends baby was a horrible sleeper and ate for a full year many times at night. 2 weeks after her bday just went right down quickly and then slept right through the night. So, even with a high maintenance baby I believe they will still start sleeping and not eating even without training. That is what I am hoping for anyway

I'm hoping she'll 'fix' herself without training too. Like yours, our LO eats quickly and then is back down (like 15 minutes eating and put back down total) easily for the most part so I'm thinking that some day she will just stop needing the night feedings and we'll all be happy. like last night, we slept from 7-7 with no wakes or fusses at all. such a nice break considering how horrible the rest of the week was. it was amazing to get a full nights sleep again your words give me hope that I'm doing the right thing and there's hope of not needing to sleep train
@ emmygirl I, personally, have been wondering if my LO's nap schedule has anything to do with wakeups. The last couple of days she has given such a hassle for her second nap so I just let her sleep a lot longer for her first nap. She slept for 3 hours and never had a second nap and only woke up once to eat at night. Not sure if this is what she is working towards but will have to wait and see.
footloose, yes! I've been trying to figure out how her naps effect her night sleep and trying to see if there are any trends. it seems for the most part if she gets a good longish (1.5 hours or more) nap in the morning and then at least short nap in the afternoon (30 mins but ideally 1 hour) she does best going down and sleeping through the night. the other day she had one 20 minute nap for the day. It. Was. HELL. I know DC does their best to get her down when she doesn't want to nap but that day she was a special kind of difficult for all of us.
