So I decided to start temping this cycle but all I have in an Exorgen Temporal Scanner. I know that this is not my best option but I figured it would help me at least get into the habit of temping before I go get a legit thermometer.
Is there a brand that is typically recommended? Also, I don't wake up at the same time every morning. Typically I wake up at 4:30 if I am going to get a workout in but I sleep in until 5:30 if I am not going to work out. Will this make a big difference in my temps?

Many people use the Mabis, available on Amazon. I have a CVS BBT and have liked it.
I'd try to be consistent. You may find that your temps don't vary that much based on waking time, but you won't know until you start charting and seeing patterns. You could always wake up to temp at 4:30 every day (oof), and just go back to sleep on the mornings you need to get up at 5:30.
I personally temp at 6 every morning (even though I don't need to get up until 7) to accommodate the odd morning I need to get up earlier.

Thanks! I just went back and looked again. I read through there quickly but wasn't thinking about temping yet so I didn't look to closely. I will go back and scour the posts for info now
saltandvinegar , I also wake up at different times and set my alarm earlier than I normally get up (5AM) to temp and go back to sleep - it works for me because I am really good at sleeping and that still typically gives me at least 90 minutes until I have to get up (most people sleep in 90 minute cycles).
They can be really intense. Or really strange. I had one the other night where I couldn't tell if it was a baby or a doll. It never cried and I forgot to feed it multiple times for up to an entire day.

I just use a random digi thermometer that I had. It's still going 2 1/2 years strong :/
I temp whenever my alarm goes off on days I work (5:20 ish) and then whenever I wake up other days (anytime between 6:30 and 7:30) I can usually still see a patten and a temp shift but that's not always the case. You just have to take a few cycles to see your patterns and what works for you.
saltandvinegar I use the Mabis BBT. I wish it was backlit, but that's the only thing I wish was different. nuggetrn has a backlit thermometer, but I can never remember what kind it is. I temp at 6:30am everyday. On the weekends, I just go back to sleep.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and trying to get familiar with the board lingo. I hope I'm answering these questions correctly Lol. This is me and my husband's first month TTC. I've been off BC for 2 months now after 14 years on straight 😳 Good luck to everyone this month and I am excited to be a part of this community.
Cycle/Month: 1st cycle TTC
CD/DPO: 17/I think 2 (I don't temp) this is based off OPK, cervical mucus, and cramping
Timing: -2 -1 0
Testing Plans: 10 DPO if I get too antsy; 14 DPO if I can hold out.
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: I decided for some reason to continue to OPK after receiving my positive and the test line is progressively getting darker again. Today it is almost as dark as the control line. Feeling very confused.

I frequently get two +OPKs in a row, and typically ovulate the day after the second +, based on my BBT. It is also possible to have multiple LH surges, so it's possible that you are gearing up to ovulate now.

Thank you piratecat. It was strange since the day after the positive the OPK www negative with a really faint test line and now it's progressively getting dark again. Possibly a second LH surge then. Hopefully I don't get another positive as that would really throw me off.

Started back to temping today, and temp was significantly lower than 11dpo my other three medicated cycles. Don't expect CD1 till Sunday, but no longer optimistic about this cycle. Blah.
Got a bfn today at 12DPO with a CBE digi. Especially after reading NariaDreaming's PSA about how sensitive they now are, I've pretty much lost my optimism...
RRCS: I was horrible at temping this month so FF gave me dotted cross hairs with my +OPK. Just waiting on temps to confirm.
I'm just happy we got a few days in before MH left town for work.
