Lots of prayers shanny!! Goodluck coffeequeen14! joy lots of hugs! The first 2 weeks with DD was really hard. She nursed around the clock and we still had to supplement. My milk came in late and then it was a poor supply. I kept at it and supplemented when I had to. I nursed her till 18 months. You CAN do it but also know that whatever you decide is great also!
We met with the surgeon and he said that everything went very well, no complications, and pulmonary valve was spared. We peeked in on R in the room, but haven't gotten to go back in because there are still some evaluations going on.
Glad everything went well! Continued thoughts for a speedy recovery!
Ok I feel stupid, but what exactly is colic? I know the definition is crying 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, for 3 weeks. I think we meet that definition, and people keep asking me if she's colicky. But ... What IS it? Like if your baby has colic, then what's wrong with them? I just don't get it.
My doctor explained it just means they have gas in a nutshell.

I feel like colicky is a cop out term...like it doesn't always mean there's a specific cause. I'm not positive thought. I hope it does not last too long!

+1 I take it to generally mean "we don't know why your baby is crying or how to fix it. Deal."

G just put herself to sleep!!!
M is pretty good at putting himself to sleep if we put him down drowsy but awake, but G is super hard to get to sleep... and if you put her down when she's not 100% sleeping she wakes up and screams more.
Tonight G was crying. H thought she might still be hungry and put her down in the bassinet so he could go make her a bottle. And then she just fell asleep!!!
This could be just a fluke... or it could be a game changer.

bocaburger - so far I am zero for 3 on newborns doing drowsy but awake to sleep (DD1 and 3 have done it just a few times). The good news is there are tons of ways to work on it past the newborn phase.

My DD didn't do the drowsy but awake to sleep until almost 1. She STTN though once down..so couldn't complain. Now she'll put herself to sleep no issues. So second the no need to worry if they don't do it as a newborn.
Happiest Baby on the Block has a theory about colic that dispels the idea tha colic is gas based. It's interesting if you want to read it.
I read that book 3 years ago, but I can't remember. Is it the 4th trimester idea?
Yes - it's the idea of the 4th trimester. They also logically break down the theories that surround colic and then dispel them one by one until the only theory left is the 4th trimester.
It's up to you if you fully buy their story, but I do think there's something to the fact that colic is virtually unheard of in some cultures. If it was just gas, etc... then it would be a universal issue. In my mind, at least.

I've been using the 5 S's on her, and truly they are the only things that help. The problem is it's tough to carry her around swinging and shushing with my other kid running around starved for attention! 😜
